Yes, Microprose!

Quote:
Earlier this year, rights to the MicroProse name were purchased by David Lagetti, creator of one of the largest open-world simulators - TitanIM. David was also involved in the development of simulators used in the military. In an interview for PC Pilot we can read that he wants to go back to the roots and produce high quality strategy games and simulators, for which MicroProse was once known. Some of them will be announced later this year, and the first game - Warbirds 2020 - will appear in late 2019 or in the first quarter of 2020. It is also worth knowing that Lagettie convinced Bill Stealey, the former owner of the company and co-founder of the Sid Meier's series, to work together.

They made X-COM? Then who was the "original x-com creator" who went to make XC2?

Haha yeah, when that Comanche announcement popped last week I got all excited, then I saw the trailer. Bloody hell xD

The quality Microprose that we knew and loved is dead, but if this guy's vision is to offer project(s) with an acceptable level of simulation and a decent budget behind them, then things might be interesting.

Warbirds 2020 however is the sequel to this one: https://store.steampowered.com/app/365620/WarBirds__World_War_II_Combat_Aviation/

My Dad had F-15 Strike Eagle by Microprose back in the Commodore 64 days. I used to watch him play it often. Despite him being a helicopter pilot in the Marines, he was good with it playing on the highest difficulty. He said it was one of the best simulation games he ever played and the graphics at the time were pretty good.

Me and my older brother are huge fans of the "old companies" so we watched in terror how they were destroyed or "bought". Microprose was one of the best - i didn't play every title but all of the ones i played were great.

I remember being so hugely disappointed that F-19 doesn't exist and F-117A was a piece of shit Laughing Although of course the game's F-19 was actually based on the 117. I had a plastic model of it. Almost the same case with RAH-66 Commanche - it was cancelled. So hugely disappointed Laughing

Anyway, the best of their titles IMO was UFO/X-COM. Had so many hours in. They were also pretty diverse with their games' genres. Bloodnet terrified me a bit as a kid though Laughing

I hope the reanimation of the company won't go as i think it will go.
