www.totalfilm.com/news/christopher-nolan-in-talks-for-bond-24
Quote: | Given his status as the world’s premiere director of large-scale event cinema, it was perhaps inevitable that Christopher Nolan would become linked to the vacant director’s chair on Bond 24, and sure enough, that’s exactly what’s happened.
The Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye reports that Nolan is in early talks with Bond bigwigs Barbara Broccoli and Michael G .Wilson, with a view to the director stepping into the position recently vacated by Sam Mendes.
Our instant reaction to this one would be that with Nolan embarking upon pre-production on his forthcoming sci-fi film Interstellar, the likelihood of him jumping straight into another hugely time-consuming property would seem slim.
However, Bamigboye was frequently on the money with his various scoops throughout Skyfall’s life-cycle, so it could well be the case that Broccoli and Wilson have at least sounded Nolan out about his potential availability.
It may be that they’re simply keen to get his take on where the Bond films might go next, with Nolan having previously declared himself a fan of the series.
We’d certainly love to see Nolan take on the franchise at some point in the future, so if Bond 24 turns out to be an episode too soon, hopefully Broccoli and Wilson will be able to pique his interest further down the track… |
Thanks Blam <3

Would be interesting to see the final result, but I kind of wanted to have his next movie after Interstellar be a mystery (or another sci-fi project) - something along the lines of Inception or his pre-Batman-era movies.

It seems Nolan does one studio film and one passion project (which also turn huge these days - The Prestige, Inception and Interstellar). I doubt he'd sell out, so he and his brother would still work as a team, and that duo is just fantastic. I mean, there isn't more clever duo nowadays. Maybe the old Ridley Scott or Mann could be seen as more ... something ..., but this duo is great.
The only thing that makes me fear a little is the absence of Wally Pfister, their cinematographer of basically all their films. It would be interesting to see if they can keep it up with someone else.

I for one would welcome a Mr. Bond made in Nolan, the formula is getting quite stale even after Skyfall's not-so-great attempt to bring a different tone to the franchise, so why not.
We've got nothing to lose

As soooon as i read on /film i knew you were gonna make a thread.
he's not commercial enough to do bond.
I've yet to see sexy from him.
Everything is just gorgeous and massive. But nothing sexy.
If you can't do sexy, you can't do bond.

Was Sam Mendes commercial? Or Marc Forster?
Nolan's movies have made more than $3 billion worldwide. He's commercial enough. And Anne Hathaway's ass in a catsuit is sexy enough for me.

it would be a nightmare. end of the franchise. Nolan should stay away from this beloved franchise and not mess it up like he did with batman.

sam mendes and marc forster can do sexy.
that's the point here. current bond is sexy. not cheesy b-movie hero.
Nolan dresses sexy, but all of his chars in movies aren't dressed as sexy, look sexy, feel sexy. They all look and feel rugged and manly. Which is nice if nolan were to do expendables 5. But for bond, it would be a fantastic movie, but it wouldn't be bond.
and by commercial i mean look and feel. rather than success. Nolan is as commercial as bay is independent.

While the general idea was excellent the execution was pretty poor.

Well he did a good job directing Skyfall; the problems of Skyfall were not in the direction but the script.
