The game is FANTASTIC and I've been so happy since Capcom announced the PC ports. Sure we can play the ROMs, but there's something nice about owning this properly (well, pseudo-properly, not the $169 CPS JAMMA cart Razz) Sadly I can't get it yet, so just the Yarr version for me, but I WILL get this one day! ^___^

I'm down for part of that 4 pack Spykez. Lemme know!

Edit: Oh shit. Spykez went "nuts" and would not have any of my money for a 4 pack. He really did already buy it hehe Very Happy

still emulated version is and was better, with tons of gfx options, hotkey saves etc etc, maybe little bit lacking on the multi side. and it was avaliable for years now.

just checked, meh - nothing interesting, anyone who played both on emu - move on, dont bother.

+1 Powered by GGPO too Smile Honestly, anyone that calls themselves fans of the classic 2D brawlers needs to pick this shit up right now, they need to send the message to Capcom that THIS IS GOOD. Hopefully they bring over Darkstalkers Resurrection, Marvel vs Capcom Origins and Marvel vs Capcom 3 as well!

anyone who calls themselves fans of classic 2d brawlers already played shit out of those games, including many more classic ones like punisher, knights of the round etc etc.

just checked it in widescreen with scanlines, looks like shit, on emu it looked LOT better.

dunno where all of you have been in the last 20-15 years.

I played and beat the emu versions plenty of times. Buying it tells Capcom that this is a good move and will bring more.

WHHHAT! Amazing fun and yes, exact same gameplay. Cept in this arcade game you get to choose routes to your next level, like land with lots of enemies which means more gold more XP but more chances of death or by boat but less xp etc (was a thing in the arcde with spending quarters)

And there's a slight RPG thing going too.

If you liked Golden Axe you'd love this.

I played it in arcade machines (cabinets?) years ago and then Mame, this is pretty much the same version but with a few extras, still seems to be a sort of emulator but it's not bad. Smile

I dislike the scaling and filters but I suppose redrawing the art would have been too much work though it would have been nice oh and despite being D&D it's a pretty simple game.

The game files contains traces of Darkstalkers (Another game I played a lot when I was younger and then again via Mame.) and some other stuff so maybe Capcom will port over that too, if this sells well enough.

EDIT: Oh and this contains both games, you switch via the control key.
(The keyboard works just fine but I'm used to it via Mame, gamepad - X360 one seems preferred according to the Steam forums - might be even better.)

My favorite in this genre was Knights of the Round. One unique thing about it is your armor and weapon changed appearance as you leveled up. You could also dismount enemies and steal their horse.

same here, KotR wasnt best looking or most advanced but it had that something which kept me coming back to it.

other great titles are punisher, cadillacs and dinosaurs, warriors fate, sengoku 1-2-3-4, Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder (arcade one was far better imo, not that old sega game), final fight (again, arcade version is the best one), captain commando, Alien vs. Predator (great arcade game), etc etc - there are tons of them.

look up for arcade/mame 2d brawlers/beat em ups, all avaliable for free ages ago. they look and play great via emulators with TONS of gfx options (tho i like them without any filters, only 25% scanlines for more arcade-y vibe Wink ), any-time save etc etc.

I only bought this for the multi-player side. Graphics could have been polished up a little more though. Why not totally redone and updated seeing as they charge over a tenner for it?.
I can't really notice any difference between the crisp filter and having none at all. (ie: big chunky sprites) the smooth filter turns the whole screen into a big blurry mess. (below)

It would have been great to get the SSF2THD style overhaul, but I still think the price is more than fair for this. People are used to downloading ROMS and emulators, which is all well and good, but also still illegal. The only other way to play these games would be in an arcade at at home with a cab/supergun and the CPS2 B-boards for one-hundred and sixty-nine DOLLAR for each game. I'd say that if people wanted a legit copy of the games and to support more ports/titles, it's a worthy buy.

not that I regret buying it Sabin, as I find the game fun and it's great that they added the multiplayer, but still it's a rather lazy rehash by Capcom all the same.

s'ok I knew that Smile. Fraps actually made it look better only because it shrunk the image (as with screnies taken from steam too). When it's on screen it's full *cough* HD glory it does look rather terrible unfortunately. Oh well..

legally supporting lazy ports for 14e, well fuck that.

http://spritedatabase.net/files/arcade/605/Sprite/Fighter.gif

looking at those sprites it clearly wouldnt take them that long to remake this, tons of elements are used x times in every character (body fragments etc) and mobs have less sprites than normal characters. backgrounds are also quite basic.

would be great to play those old arcade games in HD versions, but no, lets just release same old shit that is avaliable via emulation for 15-20 years.

8.3 Smile Seems this is getting a LOT of great reviews across the board. Well earned too, I've played through both campaigns now (once with SpykeZ though the lag between USA<>Norway made it rather unpleasant) and had an absolute blast. Great game and worth €14 of anyone's money - at least it sends the message to Capcom that more titles like this are needed! I, for one, would fucking LOVE a CPS1+2 brawler collection!

So Much Win
