Fucking piece of shit. Just like my trusty mx510 the cable at the entry point into the mouse broke. But unlike my mx 510 I just couldn't open the mouse, cut off the faulty shizzles and solder it to work fine for the next year! Mad So I just opened it up and now it's lying around Sad fuck you Sad I think it survived not even a year Sad

Any mouse that doesn't break at that fucking point?!

The screws are apparently under the mouse's "pads"/feet and you should be able to, worst case scenario, solder wire for wire and get it back working again.

My G400 broke within one year too...But it's strange, it would freeze my whole USB controller sometimes (often when In heavy use - games) leaving my other peripherals connected to other ports on this controller not functional too until I rebooted my computer. When I connected it to USB 3.0 port it would "only" freeze for about 5 seconds and then it continued working. So I replaced it with my old A4Tech mouse and it's working like a charm for 2 months already.

Would like to repair my G400 too, but honestly I have no idea if it can be repaired easily, as it doesn't seem like it's mechanical issue.

^^ Same problems I had, except for it only froze for 5 seconds, but this last time it corrupted my usb port and I had to remove all usb devices, delete the drivers and remove them from the hardware manager, shut down the pc and restart the whole shit and reinstall -_-*

My shitty kensington laser mouse works now, but I miss the side buttons...

Once open, you'll realize that you have to dismantle the whole scrollwheel shit which is rather complicated compared to the mx510 where you'd just remove two/three screws and then solder the shit off, cut and back on...

Im having the same issue with my 2 years old razer imperator, mouse freezes like 5 secs and comes back again. Sometimes I have to take out and in from usb to make it work. And it seems to me that the problem is at the cable entry point...
missed my old logitech m500 that worked well for almost 10 years...

Ankh bought this one, it seems that they tried a solution for this cable entry zone problem.

lets see if it works.

I don't think any of my mice actually broke so far. MX518 is still going after god know ho may years... must be nearing 10 Very Happy
G500 is now at 2 years and the only problem I have is when some lone cat hair gets on the pad (happens way more often than one might expect Very Happy) - that thing goes nuts. It's expected I suppose - it as a mouse after all Smile

So I don't think it's specifically the mouse that's the problem, must be some bad luck.
Then again, recalling our Battlefield sessions with Pumpy, I don't think any mouse is safe. Perhaps you should stop grabbing it by the cord and throwing it at things Razz

My G400's cable first broke (after 1 year) from the mouse end, so I had to open it and fix it, but somehow fucked up the scroll button so it is now very sensitive. (cant be bothered to open it up again Razz ).
Half a year later the USB end also broke as well, so I had to cut the cable in half and and salvage some parts from an unknown old mouse. I guess what I am trying to say is that Logitech cabling sucks, apart from that it is a very sturdy mouse.

Is it certain that it is broken from the mouse end?

Still not a single issue with my G9x except I had to replace the pads after they had become scratched and lost some of their sliding ability.

Do I need to find the receipt? If not, I'll reassemble that thing... but I removed all the bottom glide pads and the seal to open the mouse.

I guess they won't take it back under those circumstances?

You don't need to send the mouse back to them. I've opened mine too, in my attempt to fix it.

You'll be asked to provide these:

Quote:
First name:
Last name:
Address:
Postal Code:
City:
Telephone Number:
Proof of purchase/Receipt/Invoice:
- Please e-mail us a photo of the VAT receipt. ( Jpeg format )

and then you are good.

cable on my intellimouse explorer 3.0 never broke ! using that mouse for 13 years now lol (well, this is like the 4th). So every 3 years i buy a new one, but they never break hehe. But at some point, it kinda reaches its max limit on how many clicks you can do with a mouse without it becoming less responsive i guess Smile

How does that work? I wouldn't have problem with sending my mouse back to them, but the shipping cost to Netherland is is almost as high as a price of new mouse.

Emailing them some proof of purchase and providing them with the serial number (look under the mouse for it) to check it's not a 10 year old mouse you try to replace ( Laughing ) is good enough.

It's not a freaking graphics card they have to worry you might have destroyed yourself by overclocking it Razz so they are cool with shipping you a new one. Smile

I have my MX-518 (which I repaired myself with a soldering iron) as a spare in case my G9x breaks but so far the only thing I have done is replace the feet with Core Pads (I'll select a different set of feet next time, the new pads are scratchy as hell already).

Sure.

But I meant it "as Logitech will replace it if it's < 3". This is what I was told by some dude that had replaced his own faulty Logitech mouse.

We are really sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your Logitech Optical Gaming Mouse G400 and please let us apologize for the difficulties and inconvenience you experienced in respect to this. We will be more than happy to help you with this concern.

Unfortunately, we must inform you that your product is defective and a warranty exchange is needed.

Important: Certain email clients and online email providers incorrectly filter the UPS email as spam. If you have not received the UPS email within 48 hours of sending your confirmation e-mail, kindly check your spam folder.

The UPS email will contain detailed instructions, which we urge you to read carefully. The instructions will outline the need to safely and securely package the product yourself. You will also need to print* the documents provided through the UPS email, as these need to be provided to the courier. Finally you will need to follow the instructions on how to contact UPS to arrange a pick-up appointment during regular business hours, i.e., Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, on the provided pick up address.
