It is important to realize that Hatoful Boyfriend was originally created as a parody of how stupid and inane romance visual novels could be, and how oddly specific VN fans can be about their subject material. However, the developer of the game didn't anticipate that the game was incredibly popular with the exact fanbase that they were trying to insult. So now the developers are stuck making more games of this ilk (first birds, then alpacas, and now bug people), because it makes them good money and their publisher wants them to. Will this commentary be included, or will it be whitewashed in this release? Only time will tell....
Maybe if the game sells well an "official" English release of Paca Plus. In the meantime in preparation you can can date the President of "New Japan." In all seriousness here's to hoping that games from all genres and geographic regions can be distributed in the United States and elsewhere on digital platforms like Steam.

The name is a pun already. "hato" means pigeon and "haato", pronounced only with a longer "a", means heart and would be a more common part for a name of this type of game.

Bird dating sim Hatoful Boyfriend is getting a sequel this autumn with Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star.
Coming to PC, PS4 and Vita, this latest adventure in cross-species romance is being developed by series creator Hato Moa and developer Mediatonic, who worked on the previous Hatoful Boyfriend remastering and Robot Unicorn Attack: Evolution.
"Hatoful Boyfriend fans will travel to fantastically styled worlds, meet interesting new chickadees, find romance in elegantly designed winter wonderlands and a new mysterious watercolor world," Devolver said of this upcoming sequel.
"While we would have loved to create an all-new franchise with our friends at Mediatonic, investing $350,000 in bird motion capture gear limits our options," said Devolver Digital CFO Fork Parker.
