The game returns to the earlier style of gameplay from the first two games. As such, additions made to the gameplay mechanics since Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 onwards, such as reverts, are not included. Instead, players must rely on tricks, grinds and manuals in order to pull off combos. Many of the classic objectives return, such as getting high scoring runs, collecting SKATE letters and finding hidden DVDs (which replace the tapes from the original games) within each level. The selection of skaters will consist of classic skaters such as Tony Hawk and Rodney Mullen, as well as modern skaters such as Riley Hawk. There will be at least five different online modes and online leaderboards

Sadly they couldn't get the rights to a lot of music, so it ended up being 1 song from THPS1 and 6 from THPS2 -- and 7 newly licensed ones to fill out the rest. Same way they couldn't get the rights to a lot of the skaters either, meaning the skater roster is more than a little light Still... it's the PC version, so let's hope for some music modding at least

Well that would explain it all but 6 tracks from THPS 2 is still good, I hope the new tracks will deliver. One of the reasons that made THPS 2 was great is due to soundtrack
Woooo I thought I was going to have to fire up the xbox to play this.
Wooo for the PC version

Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
Definitely good news! I've got so many memories from the first three THPS titles.. and the devs are bringing THPS3 maps and gameplay features in later DLC too.

Soundtrack licences are heavy stuff. Apparently, the soundtrack is the only reason why a Double-Fine-published Brütal Legend PC release is out of the question. Double Fine would need a major publisher (like EA) to make that kind of deal.
The iOS version of THPS2 is missing a great deal of the original audio due to not being able to obtain the licenses, but the homebrew community modded the .IPA and replaced the music with the original soundtrack

Why? I prefer the first two games compared to the third, so why is it "better just play THPS3"?
Then just play pc version of thps2 and emulate first one on pc too.
Don't get me wrong, I thought that it is a general agreement that thps3 is the best game ever created

Anyone here played the console version? I wonder how good the remake is.

Pretty much that, it's not the entire package to please everyone but it's a nice throwback and if that's what you're looking for you'll be happy with THPS HD.

Again, WHY? Aside from some missing music track, this new release seems to be vastly superior. It has the combination of THPS1/2 levels and music, with a radically enhanced engine. So why step back?
... though I do admit the lack of "Create a Skater" is pretty harsh

I have read its pretty crappy compaired to the mechanics of the originals

You've played it then? I'm still going to check it out for myself first, if it feels crap then I'll be sure to say so
Yes. XBLA demo that is
It is Tony Hawk aight, but music isn't there and it feels weird. Levels are well recreated with new graphics but ragdoll is terrible and the new graphics don't fit the old blocky level design. I guess it's a matter of taste or I really don't remember how old games looked

I played through the career of THPS1 a few days ago on an emulator and everything I've seen on videos from THPSHD looks far superior. THPS1 hasn't aged well and honestly: it isn't as good as we remember it to be.
Back then it was DA SHIT but playing it with THPS 2 & 3 in the back of your head makes you see how the mechanics weren't really fine tuned and some of the level design is questionable.
I also played THPS 2 & 3 recently and they have aged better. The PC version of THPS3 is totally enjoyable by today's standards.
