The Game Guru Will Wright is on with a new project Spores
Spore could end up being quite literally the biggest and most ambitious game ever attempted. Although it begins at the microscopic level, with players taking control of a monocellular organism in a tidal pool, the scale changes as the creature evolves and grows. The end result: A massive adventure spanning an entire galaxy with player-driven gameplay and design shared seamlessly online among the entire Spore community.
Spore seems to be a concise summary of Wright's virtuosic approach to game design. In tackling the most significant issues and trends facing developers moving into the next generation of games, he appears to have designed a project that gracefully encompasses a wide array of genres while giving players an unprecedented level of control over their game experience.

Sounds fucking amazing!
If it's anything like what that article describes it as it'll be one of my dream games.
I think my race will have a biological basis for everything e.g The zerg.
It'll be so cool to travel to another world populated by some primitive tribe and wipe it clean. OMFG!

After reading that preview, I'm pretty skeptical. Sure, Wright has pulled it off before, but we all saw the utter shit The Sims Online turned out to be.
Right now its nothing more than a hyped up preview. Doubt he will be able to deliver well on everything he promises.
On a sidenote, the idea seams awfully EA like doesn't it?
Eat the competition, grow, consume the galaxy. Pretty much EA's outline for the gaming industry

Did you see the footage of the actual game?
Black and White might not have lived up to expectations, but it wasn't utter shite, as evidenced by the reviews.

i'm still waiting for a game that has no objectives, no pre-scripted story, and where you don't have to do shit, but you are able to do -anything-.
like a first person.. existence simulator? a bit too ambitious but a replica of the whole wide world, every building, vehicle, statue, tree, important people, etc etc.. if you wish you'd be able to purchase a shotgun and raise hell anywhere you wish, and it would be totally true-to-reality and so on... maybe in 50 years :> would be cool to be able to mix the sims, some porn game, some shooter, rpg, sports, racing simulator, flying sim etc etc in one giant seamless world
