Shit, they are gonna sell for aproximately 3500kr here. I think I'll stay with my ppc. I think you can get an X50v if you add 1000kr.
[sYn] Some questions:
* Can you play standard hdtv and pdtv rips on the device without extra encoding? * What's the bitrate and resolution limit of the device?
* And how's the status with the games, like if they will be pirated and how much they will cost each.
* What music and video (including codecs) formats does the device accept?
* Any wifi or bluetooth capabilities?
edit:
encoding not decoding, lol, sorry

* The device can only read its only movie media type, this requires extra encoding. The quality (from reading only, as do not have a large enough memory stick to test) is some what similar to that of DivX/Xvid, I belive the media uses similar tech to keep the quality high and file size low. Im unsure of the devices limits (again due to not testing it personally) but the video quality seems to be very watchable: They are briging out official movies on the device so it has been built for media.
* Personally I don't think piracy is a option that will come about soon, as the comon computer has no conventional way of reading the UMD's. However, the device is USB compatible, has space for memory (memory stick duo) so its feasable that someone could pull games directly from the machine and come up with a way to load the games from the memory stick using a work around in MP3 playing... *puts in some major guesses*
The games are region free, so my PSP from Japan will allow me to play European games with no issue. The UMD movies are region restricted.
* The device accepts MP3 (probably wav too.. but no one wants that ) and its own PSP media type for video.
* WiFi is built in, it has the ability to do Ad-Hoc connections to other PSP devices or connect to any standard wireless network. The tech is B, so its about 11MB's and most launch games I've seen come with network play, mainly just Ad-Hoc for now though, so no "internet play"... this is the future though.
*Just to add another point. Sony are releasing a firmware update (it has been leaked in alpha form but should not be installed..) that will add many PDA like features to the PSP including web, text editor, calculator and a few other funky things.. The future is looking bright for this device.. we just need to see it move forward a little fast for us europeans !
FYI: I payed £300 for the value pack and 2 games. Imported directly from Japan to my office desk (the importer works with me ) - Talk about fast delivery 3 hours.. haha

I imagine this will only be for certain games, decided by the developer. One thing I do know is that proxy software is out there that allows you to play online with anyone anywhere as if it where an Ad-Hoc connection (ala Battle Lan).. I played RR with some guys in Japan when I first got my PSP.. havent really bothered with it since..

yeah the problem for one thing is to get the 2 games in sync and in some games the PAL version loads faster...

Ok, guys since the statement by sony that the PSP here in europe is still months away then I would like to know if there are any american retailers, that are going to get the PSP in stock by March the 24th and are shipping overseas.
I've checked EBgames but they only sell bundles and the only thing I want is the value pack...
