well mobo fried when I decided to upgrade ram, anyway installed new mobo epox 8rda put everything back toghether but for some reason it wont boot into windows basically i get into bios and set 166fsb for my xp2400 with 200mhz for my 1024mb (ddr400) and radeon 9700pro so after saving settings i exit bios and it gets loading windows but doesnt even get as far as showing xp boot screen and just reboots! keeps doing this

I have tried changing fsb lower setting, swapped hd with my other comp, tried booting with safe mode, im getting a little peeved off to be honest and am serisouly contemplating getting another board...been offline for 2 days now Sad

anyone else got any suggestions? im going to try using one stick of ddr3200 and checking the led status indy along with swapping mem around in the dim

Did you reinstall windows or did you just use the already installed windows. In this case it is possible that the old install of XP didn't use the apic mode. Try to disable that in the bios of your new board, it should work. APIC needs to be enabled before you install windows, you can't enable that after the install.

also, you can't just move your hd with xp to another pc if the new pc has a different southbridge or ide controller, read here for info on this Smile

I'm sure you've worked this out by now, but my bet is that it's 99% memory issue. Make sure that you are using the right dimms AT THE CORRECT SLOTS!
