I didn't like the first one, it was boring and the puzzels were hard and crappy. it didn't have any interesting plot, just wandering and solving puzzles.
I'll pass that one.

Anyone had any trtouble with the crack? When I run the game it still asks me for the CD. Anyone have any ideas?

i hate this. i kept the original game for years and i delted recentely and now the expansion come out. not only that but for some games u have to play it all over to play the expansion. on this do u have to play it all over rom the begining or can u pick and start witht eh expanison

wtf? kept it for YEARS?.. URU only came out like last fall.. geesh..
also.. I cant get this addon to work.. I just get this msg:
Unable to authenticate for single player.
Please insert your CD and try again.

Thats exactly what I get ixxo. Could it be diffrent countrys releases because I'm installing it over the retail UK version.

Could be..but really.. a US and UK release should be "similar" enough for that not to occur.. smells like a bad crack to me.. also.. I have real legal retail versions of both the UK and US versions.. and the problem happened on both.. SO..

I got all really giddy about it as well, oh well its only a week now untill it well be posted through my front door. I was hoping to get in there though I want to learn more about the D'ni.

A good mate emailed me this ... and guys it works!
Copy the sp.dll from the ORIGINAL Uru installation out of the folder to somewhere safe, THEN install Path of the Shell. Then copy the uruexplorer.exe from the UPOS crack, and the original sp.dll back to the folder.

Well when I did it I installed the first expansion with the retail game. The size of the file is 1.1Mb and the date stamp on it is 9 March 2004, 11:47:22

yea whitter.. that particular mate is smart! he told me too, and we're temporarily stuck!
.. btw.. I think u have to have a RETAIL version of the disc.. or a CloneCD image.. thats what I'm using now.. or rather an Alcohol120% safedisc 3 image of my retail disc to keep my cdrom drive empty.. the thing is.. the change of the SP.DLL as far as I figure.. allows the disc to authetnicate with the original URU disc, but that wont work with the DEViANCE release because it doesnt have the safedisc 3 signature intact.. so you really do need a RETAIL disc or CLONECD image of some sort..

I've tried this too and the first time it did not work and it asked for the disc again then the error we are all getting. I have the original URU backed up that doesn't use a crack (clone) and placed that into the cdrom and ran it again and it DOES start up. I'll explain more on what Whitter means.
First install URU and then install the Uru To D'ni expansion pack. After that is done, copy the sp.dll from your URU game folder to somewhere safe. Now install The Path to the Shell expansion pack. When thats done, copy the uruexplorer.exe from the crack folder on the disc to the game folder, overwriting existing file. Now copy the previously saved sp.dll to the same URU game folder and now try running it.
It is also the same date stamp as Whitter says for the sp.dll file. Draw back is that you have to have the original or at least a clone to get this to run. Hope this helps.

Athene.. I suggest you uninstall it.. and delete the uru/ubisoft dirs just keep ur savegame if u want.. I started playing Path To The Shell using my old savegame so that I had the Prime and To D'Ni solved already...
then.. move ur sav dir somewhere else.. and make sure the ubi/cyan/uru/to'dni dirs are all gone.. install URU, copy SP.DLL somewhere else, Install Pots then copy SP.DLL back into the URU dir overwriting the new one thats there and overwrite the uruexplorer.exe from the one on the cracks dir in the Pots CD but dont touch the SP.DLL in there..
the thing is.. it will not work with the POTS image mounted.. it has to have a RETAIL disc of URU in the drive, OR a clonecd/alcohol image mounted of URU that has the SafeDisc3 signature intact..

it works for me without the To D'Ni expansion pack.. that is included in the POTS disc so I dont think thats neccesary..

No.. I think you have to have a retail disc or a clonecd image so u can play the game without using a crack for uru:ages beyond myst.. I think the VENGEANCE crack is botched.. and the only way we've found to make the game run is making the protection look for a URU ages disc instead of a POTS disc..

Thanks so much for the follow up help on this, it does seem to work.
Whiiter: Great tip, and that filesize info for the sp.dll really helped.
Twisted Endz/Ixxo: Thanks for the extra installation details. I was leaving the old sav info and dirs. When I completely removed all evidence of the previous install and reinstalled, I had no issues.
You guys are right, the trick is to make it look for the retail/clone cd of Uru: Ages Beyond Myst, and not PotS. That original sp.dll seems to do the trick.
And kudos to that mate of Witter's that didn't give up...

I must say that its a great expansion, one that I have been waiting for, for quite sometime now. Finally getting it to run yesterday was awesome, I stayed up almost the whole night playing. I hope Myst IV will be just as good but I'm sure it will be better.

So in conclusion that trick only works for those who have the retail/clone of 1st Uru that has the SafeDisc3 signature intact...?!

nope.. URU is SafeDisc 3.. if your version is SafeDisc 2 its VERY STRANGE cos my UK retail disc of URU and usa retail disc of URU are BOTH SAFEDISC 3.. sooo..
