Most racing games supports steering wheels. Latest one I tried with was Nascar 2005. But everything also depends on what kind of racing wheel you are interested in.

I suppose there are wheels which can turn just like a real car steering wheel. I have plazed once with a chea wheel which did not offer the normal turn, it was limited to 180 degrees or so. It felt totally unrealistic.

Yes there are games that support clutch. Best example of a very serious racing game that supports not only latest wheels but head trackers and motion simulators is LFS.
I know these are supposed to be top of the line. There are few other ones. I'll find the links later today.
It basicly depends how much money you want to spend. If you want to spend $100-200 then you will get simple pedals that do the job but are far from realistic. If you want top performance you are looking at $400 and up.

My opinion is that nothing currently out there beats LFS in terms of both realisim and fun.
[notice the big red period] |
I think LFS is a great game, but how you can compare it to say for example, Grand Prix Legands, Nascar Racing 2003, GTR, Richard Burns Rally etc... you can't - they all do things differently and all have their good and bad points.
LFS has the benefit of a great online mode though.
As for steering wheels - I wouldn't blow your money just yet, there isn't a game out there worth it in my opinion. It's still early days for technological advancements and game feedback and you'll just tie yourself down to one or two games which will eventually age along with your hardware.
Get a cheap force feedback wheel like the MOMO force/racing. I've used these and they improve the experience greatly without breaking the bank. The driving force pro is supposedly better as well and has a greater turning angle of 900 degrees, so it probably is, but I can't vouch for that.
You definately need a wheel if you want to experience the game realistically as possible - and the fact you are asking probably indicates that's exactly what you want - just take the plunge, you won't regret it.
Quote: | is it pasable to configure system with only two pedals to use as a clutch? like lets say one pedale gass and the second clutch and the brake as button on the wheel? |
I believe so, but I've never attempted that - and I wouldn't - as the brake is more important than the clutch. I also haven't found a game that models the clutch that realistically either - and in games like LFS it's actually a detriment when racing against others online.

Playing a racing game without a wheel is just stupid...you cant "feel" the driving with a gamepad or keyboard. All the games support the wheel so far...some rally games are a pain in the ass to control though...i will never play a racing game without a wheel.

I agree. It's just that I have not played any of the above mentioned games half as much as LFS. RBR is without a doubt a top rally game right now, but you just can't multiplayer in rally. GP Legends is also great but I didn't have the wheel when it came out so didn't give it too much time. Nascar 2003 is also good but I don't really like to race in cicrles. GTR is also great, and a very close second to LFS imo.

The pedals are slightly better, with a nice feel to the brake. The force feedback is louder than the MOMO Racing. And thats all I can think of.
Conclusion: pikachupi, you should get MOMO racing for $100US, LFS (at least demo) and send me your IP so I can smoke you on the track.

You tried a Logitech MOMO wheel?
Of course it feels very little like driving a road car, for one - a road car is very different to what your driving in the game, for two - it's still an early and rather specialised technology which doesn't attract as much attention because of the cost factor.
Using a wheel in the games above is really enjoyable. Playing without is not.
It's a key point - because if you like your racing games your going to need to bite the bullet at some point, otherwise playing them just isn't the same, your not 'experiencing' them. RBR + decent forcefeedback = lots and lots of fun

Driving Force Pro is the best you can get in effordable price of around 150$. It works great once you d/l Logitech's proggie...the only bad thing I heard about this wheel is it's pedals which some people I know, had problems with after awhile.
