450mhz P3 with 256mb Ram and onboard 8mb or 16mb shared graphics I think it is.

I would say to use Windows 98, but what do you think?

Hmm personally I would pick Win98 though if you are going to use that as a little server then pick Linux...

None, I would go with a nice linux distro. Winxp will just eat that system and ask for mor, win 98 is no longer supported by MS....go with Linux

Bad options you got in the poll. As you probably won't game on it I would choose GNU/Linux or FreeBSD. You can make a decent ftp/web or fileserver of it. If you're new to linux take a look at Ubuntu.

skidrow I wouldn't install WinME until I got a gun pointed at my head. Same with Win 98. The kernel and the user interface + more of those OS:s are very unstable.

Get more ram and u can use XP.

I have installed XP on a p2 400/512ram/banshee AGP and it was running smooth with most services off. Its perfect for browsing and playing Diablo II Razz

Diablo 2 should play even faster on Linux with Wine and without extra memory.

If you are going to use it not as Server : Windows 2000 Pro SP4
As Server should you first choose Linux ( http://www.linuxiso.org )
I would prefer Win 2000 before Win98 Smile
