The...level/track they showed reminded me a lot of starwars pod racer, which honestly to me, was one of the funnest racing games i've ever played. The money system, level design made to suit very high speed racing, the damage system all of it. Though im curious how their going to work this fps sorta system into it.

Reguardless, I love ID as much as I love Irrational as I love Epic.

i hope its well thought out, rather than just being a mash of old ideas... lets be honest here, ID hasnt done anything new in a very very long time, and like you said, this is a new direction for them... lets hope its not just a tech show-off piece, but rather a full and interesting game.

Well to be honest, the only game they have ever disappointed me with was Doom 3. While they don't always bring much new to the table, their games are without doubt usually fun, Quake Wars (yes I know splash damage is dev'ing it but Carmeck is on team) obviously has mixed emotions but it's got a huge fan base already.

And as far as PC games go, there isn't a whole lot of fun, action racing games like this other than flatout, especially one where you can upgrade your vehicle and so forth, so if it offers nothing new, it won't bother me any due to the lack of this sort of thing on PC

I want one of those oldschool racing games again like Dethkarz or Rollcage or Mario Kart, where you used to drive around collect powerups and shoot other racers. Those were fun. When was the last time something like that was released?

Just semi-realistic Flatouts and similiar.

Carmack is just responsible for engine updates (for instance megatexture), otherwise he has nothing to do with Quake Wars and is busy working on ID's new engine, tech5.

It'll probably be like a quake mish mash, ie quake 3 over 2 where everything feels clunky, bigger yet slower and forget realism.

Very Happy

just saw the trailer, and im sorry, but come ON... it looks great, and people saying that the humans look plastic'y and crap, oh fuck off... visually it looks amazing, and while you cant directly compare it to a game thats ready almost for release, but its way past crysis... yeah, i just dont get why people want to rip on this game and ID in general, once more theyve shown themselves as the great pioneers they truely are...

Bet it'll be just as all other ID games. Nice graphics and tech that can be used in future products, but this game will be crappy as hell due to lacking gameplay.
Can't think of one fun game from ID since Doom 1.

exactly the problem & the reason there is no more inovation in the gameing buisness & why it has become stale & vanilla a la noob gameplay because its all about releasing the product asap or rehashing an old franshise & making multiple releases. It's all about the benjamins & not about the passion of creating the games they love & we love to play. Capitalism FTL

yeah youll get no argument from me, but lets be fair... this shit aint a charity, it IS all about the money, and every now and then, something great gets released as a result... id rather have piles of shit with a few roses every now and then, than nothing.

why the hell do you want something new!!? and you want it to come from id of all places?!?!

new stuff comes and goes, the big companies are still around because they don't play to the fickle public.

the day after id makes something innovative, people will whine for the good ole' doom games. the public doesn't know what it wants.

+1

Whcih is why we still revert to older games. Though I must say Bioshock is bringing a lot of new things to the table and their doing a good job with it. A lot of people are going to complain that a game isn't as bad ass as bioshock in the future.
