Ossett, Yorkshire, UK – Friday 30th March, 2012 – In 1995 gamers were introduced to crazy world of Worms™, the madcap, turn-based strategy game from the twisted mind of Andy Davidson. Fast forward seventeen years and everyone’s favourite invertebrates are back!
Team17 is proud to announce the forthcoming release of Worms™ Revolution. The game has been developed from the ground up and features a completely new game-engine. Exciting new features and challenges have been introduced whilst old favourites such as the Super Sheep and Holy Hand Grenade remain to thrill fans worldwide.
Worms™ Revolution is scheduled for a Q3 2012 release and will appear on PC and consoles.
Agreed. Worms was best in 2D. Hated the 3D version of worms.
But I've always loved Scorched3D. A cross between that and worms would be fine by me.
blech, hated scorched 3d, it had some nice touches though.
I always had a weakness for the ballistic physics games since I was young. I remember playing one on the atari 2600 and various other versions over the years. We put a ton of time on the original scorched earth back in college. It's Definitely not for everyone though
The introduction of dynamic water within the game introduces new and unique hazards to players. Dynamic water features in an array of new weapons and utilities and it can also appear already on the landscape in matches. For example, dynamic water could appear as a deposit within some landscape that, once destroyed, releases the flowing torrent of destruction. Unsuspecting worms are swept across the landscape and those unfortunate enough to end the turn submerged take damage as they slowly drown in a watery grave.
Physics objects are destructible items that possess devastating effects. Interaction with these items allows players to plan fiendish strategies and devise new and cruel ways in which to defeat their opponents. The physics objects can have different properties when they explode. For example toxic items will disperse clouds of noxious gas when disturbed, causing damage to all worms in the immediate vicinity. Some will explode and cause flames to spew out, setting fire to the landscape and burning any nearby worms. Finally, some objects contain H2O and we know what trouble that can cause!
I've seen a beta entry in Steam but I've got nothing myself so I don't know how that's handled, seems like it will (or could) be a interesting game, maybe they'll do a demo or showcase more videos or some such for a better overview of the game.
Makes me wonder how Euphoria physics would work on Worms, they're not quite as "bony" as humans after all.
(PhysX isn't too bad but it's effects mainly consists of particles.)
I'm a big W:A fan ! I still play it from time to time.
What happened with Worms Reloaded ?!? Didn't have time to check it out.
it basically worms 2 but they ported it to PSN and XBLA and ANDROID under the name RELOADED so to make PC not feel forever alone they just ported it to PC worms 2 LULZ ... skip it
