Can't wait! I hope it's a fantastic game like the Sands of Time trilogy was... A fantastic adaptation of the genre and definitely in top 3 of my favorite games of all time.

Its Ubisoft... Everything after Two Thrones is pure crap. Next one will definitely will be worse. PoP franchise is long dead just like AC one.

It's so dead that AC3 sold more than any other part of AC.

That's only due to marketing tho.
Previous parts got way lesser marketing then AC3 did..

Well yeah with shit game they make a lot of money and continue to make shit games. Another example - COD series...
Big sales definitely doesn't mean good game...
Except Far Cry 3 + BD i didn't enjoyed a game like old times for years.

You sure? Highly inaccurate VG Chartz says something different.
When it comes to console sales, ACIII was actually the weakest selling of the 'big' installments. (ACII > AC > ACIII) Unless they made shitloads amount of cash on DLC.
That's also why Assassin's Creed Black Flag is actually Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. Someone at Ubisoft probably figured out that the number in title makes it feel more important to gamers, hence better sales. So instead of continuing the previous setting and characters, they went for something new.

VGChartz
Quote: | On March 30, 2012, Ubisoft stated that in the three weeks since the game's pre-order campaign began, numbers had already surpassed the total U.S. pre-order numbers of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and exceeded 10 times more than the pre-orders Assassin's Creed: Revelations attracted in a comparable time frame. On October 25, 2012, Ubisoft announced that the game is the most pre-ordered game in the company's history, more than doubling pre-orders for Revelations, the previous record holder.
Ubisoft has reported strong growth in sales for the third financial quarter and nine-month period ending December 31.
Sales for the Christmas quarter were up 23 per cent year-on-year to €802 million, while sales for the first nine months of the business year increased 20.1 per cent to €1,081 million.
Assassin's Creed 3 has sold-in 12 million copies, representing an almost 70 per cent increase over Assassin's Creed Revelations at the same point of its lifecycle, according to the publisher. |
Quote: | The success of Assassin's Creed 3 - by far the best-selling title in the series so far - rounded off a good year for Ubisoft. |

According to VGChartz maybe. According to Ubisoft it's the best selling game (AC3):
Quote: | Assassin's Creed 3 has sold a whopping 7 million units since it launched at the tail end of October, Ubisoft has announced. This makes it the publisher's fastest selling game ever.
Some of these folks are on money. Assassin's Creed 3 made quite a lot of that.
Half of these sales were made during the game's first week on store shelves, as it had sold a whopping 3.5 million only seven days after its release. |
Quote: | That's also why Assassin's Creed Black Flag is actually Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. So instead of continuing the previous setting and characters, they went for something new. |
Again, no. They actually anticipate AC4 will sell fewer copies than AC3.
Quote: | Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, during the company's follow-on earnings call, said: "The American Revolution was very appealing for our gamers, and the Golden Age of Piracy may be just as exciting, if not even more. Our targets conservatively reflect lower sales expectation for AC4 than for AC3."
He revisited the remark during the Q&A part of the call: "And to come back to Assassin's Creed 4: In our numbers we expect less than last year, but we are actually pushing to achieve more than last year because we think the pirate segment is a great segment that can generate a lot more on a worldwide basis than was achieved last year. But we wanted to be prudent on our expectations so it can only be a bonus if it comes."
The success of Assassin's Creed 3 - by far the best-selling title in the series so far - rounded off a good year for Ubisoft. Breakout success Far Cry 3 has now shipped 6 million units, and stalwart best-seller Just Dance 4 shipped 8.5 million. |

This is pre-order numbers comparison between AC: Revelations and AC III. Don't know why you've brought that up, nor what it's meant to stand for.
I would prefer to see AC II vs AC III.

Eurogamer's editor's statement. That's not quote from any spokesperson of Ubisoft.
Although I agree, you were right and I was wrong. I looked into more sites - it seems that indeed AC III sold better than AC II. Maybe the simultaneous release for PC added a few millions; it's highly doubtful though.

Fastest selling doesn't mean best selling in its entire lifespan. New installments in established franchises usually sell faster because customers trust the brand.
And where's this 'best-selling according to Ubisoft'?

'Again, no' what? I'm not saying AC IV will sell more than AC III. I'm saying AC: Black Flag would sell less than AC IV: Black Flag just because of the missing number in the title. Peops would consider it another Revelations or Brotherhood.

You realize the sentence you've bolded, especially 'the best-selling in the series' claim, is by Eurogamer, not Ubisoft representatives?

However, at the end of the day, it's highly likely that AC III indeed sold more than AC II. I'll give you that.

I doubt they'll go back to the trilogy and its awesomeness, they'll likely choose to take PoP 2008's extra-sophisticate game mechanics, mix 'em with QTE's and dat cinematic feel, and finally re-brand the whole thing as reboot.
All the kids will be happy and the game will sell more than hotcakes. Win-win for everybody..except for those silly laughable old people who want challenge and proper platforming, them crazies

Unless they will be back to concept and design of Warrior Within - I couldn't care less. I liked Sands of Time, but WW literally hit me in the soft spot. I LOVED the fuck out of the game and castle exploration. Lovely polished gameplay and game mechanic made me enjoy game every time I replayed it. And the story and characters were pretty decent too.
I still think NONE of the games released after ever been so good as WW and SoT.

they already said the IP is on hold... so far they provide only remakes for older titles with focus on Mobile/Tablet market,my guess it's another Port to the Mobile market/tablet or Specific POP game exclusive to this market

Well, I guess it is safe to assume this news not related to leaks happened in 2011-2012 regarding new PoP reboot of reboot?
