Ubisoft Announces New Game Based on James Cameron’s Avatar from The Division Developer

Ubisoft has announced that The Division developer Massive Entertainment is currently working on a game based on the world of James Cameron’s Avatar.
Massive is working alongside Fox Interactive and James Cameron’s studio Lightstorm Entertainment, and the game will be built in the Snowdrop engine that powered The Division. Ubisoft said the game will be headed to PC and consoles, but didn’t name any specific platforms yet.
No plot details were revealed, but Ubisoft said in a statement that the game “will continue to expand and deepen in the Avatar universe in exciting and innovative ways along with the films.”
“With the power of Massive’s Snowdrop game engine and the team’s passion and obsessive focus on detail, we know they’re the right group to bring the beauty and danger of Pandora to life,” Cameron said in a video accompanying the announcement.
No release date has been announced yet, nor has a specific title or any details about gameplay.
The new game will return PC and console players to the Avatar universe, using Massive’s Snowdrop engine – also used in The Division and the upcoming South Park: The Fractured But Whole – to bring Pandora’s unique terrain and inhabitants to life. It was after seeing a Snowdrop-run game prototype, in fact, that Avatar creator James Cameron and Lightstorm agreed to the partnership.
“What impressed me about Massive were the group’s passion for this project, and the power of its Snowdrop engine,” Cameron says. “With the power of [Snowdrop], and the team’s passion and obsessive focus on detail, we know they’re the right group to bring the beauty and danger of Pandora to life.”
With four sequels to Avatar in development, Massive and Lightstorm are working side-by-side to expand on the movie universe in new ways and offer the freedom to experience Pandora like never before. With the Game Developers Conference in full swing this week in San Francisco, they’re scouting for top talent to help make the game a reality.
Might just work better for an MMO than Division (which IMO would've been a better action shooter). And considering the plans with the movies, hype might just do the rest.
Could be fun... but it's Ubi.
Maybe should accept one of those test days invites at massive in the next coming months... though with my luck they'd probably dump The Division in my hands
The description says it's in first-person perspective, likely some sort of Far Cry: Avatar with Primal's Tarzanator mechanics 2.0 alongside the usual set of tripey Ubiflavours

Yeah, apparently it's a first-person RPG, that is...hold on to something - "heavily set on narrative".
I have no problem killing invaders, blue skinned or not. wouldn't have a problem playing a native American either. its not like anyone in my country isn't beginning to get how that all evolved (well, there's always the Frant types i should say...)
I liked the 'first' game. It looked great, shooting was nice, story was... no idea, never paid attention to it, the world was beautiful and you could CHOOSE to shoot blue aliens OR corporate slaves.
Yep, game had 2 campaigns, based on your choice. Also, engine used was Dunia, so, yeah... makes sense for Ubi to be full into this. They probably been working on this for quite a long time.
It might worth fooling around in this new one, even if for the setting / environments.
