Since you are not going for expensive shit, why not just get Xonar DG or DGX? Awesome card for the price, amp is also good. Trust me the card is very good, no matter what SpykeZ says, cant get better performance for the price. Unified drivers works flawlessy on it. Also about those XB700 headphones, get XB600 instead (newer model and redesigned), have those as movie / bass music headphones, very detailed bass and deep also pretty nice soundstage aswell (really responds to egualizer). They really need headphone amp tho, bass is very good on my DGX. Also these Sony bass headphones beat the shit out from the "quality dudebro" shit Dr.dre beats headphones (yes they really sound like shit also very expensive).
Or just buy cheap good AV receiver (with optical in) and connect everything on it (your mobo has optical out). The sound will be very good, since its digital (receiver does all job), depends ofcourse what receiver you get.

The only way to connect all devices would be via receiver. If you are not willing to go for that, just pick a decent soundcard and some good headphones... and people have been giving you (and a few other members) advice on those for a while now.
If you want to go wireless, having a decent soundcard seems unnecessary, and until we get some proper hands-on with the new consoles, there is no way of telling which headphones will work with them, if such an option will even be possible.
Edit: The ones that connect the transmitter/receiver via a standard 3.5/7.5mm jack (or something similar) will obviously work, but finding headphones that have good quality will be hard even with an unlimited budget, let alone when you are pressed for money. Doing this seriously limits your options.

Well the sp4 have simple aux out, so there will be rca stereo cables coming out of it. I can just connect headphones to that or thru amplifier.
Receivers are very expensive

Did some more research. It kinda comes down to those:
Sony mdr-xb600
Skullcandy Hesh 2 (surprisingly good reviews on head-fi)
Creative Aurvana Live
SteelSeries Siberia V2
Sound Blaster Tactic3D Omega Wireless

Cables are evil. I really dont like cables... so its best if ford is detachable or easily exchangable. Wireless seems to be best option but sound quality and battery says hi

That way or another - Rading more on head-fi, Creative Aurvana live must be most recommended headphone ever. People say its better than audio technica ath50m and overall best in 100$.
But over the headphones now.
What about source ?
Internal Sound Card
Sound Blaster Z
xonar DG or dgc
xonar dx
External Soundacards
x-fi usb
asus u3 or something else froma sus
amp/dac of some kind that would also work with other devices and not require pc drivers to work for console etc ?

I hear A40s are better than A50s. Just bought Klipsch 2.1 and neighbors are bitching about the bass and it has never gone past 50% bass and 25% volume at listening volume.

I am leaning towards x-fi hd or 5.1 pro external sound cards.
Does anyone know, would I be able to use those just plugged into 360 for pure usb power and use them as amp for console ? (rca from console to back of the device) ?

well actually I am still thinking about sound card.
I've heard great things aobut dolby headphones. It is an surround imagining function which works surprisingly well.
It is only asus xonar exclusive right ? Which one have the best dolby headphone ?
btw. Dg or dgx ? I've heard that dgx works worse on pcie slot because it gets less power and front jack is quieter

Any of the Asus soundcards that are listed as having Dolby Headphone will give you virtual surround for your headphones.

This I know but are there actually any different versions of it or something ?
Can I just get dg and be done with it? Or is it really worth paying twice for dx, even tho i dont think it have headphone amp.
Actually only dg have headphone amp right ?

No, there aren't different versions of it. It's just a software DSP loaded into the drivers. It's same even on the $200 STX.
You'll want a headphone amp if you have a nicer pair of headphones. You don't need a card with an integrated amp for that though. Although you may as well just buy one with an integrated headphone amp for the cost at that point anyways which is why I bought a STX. Although I have $500 headphones and a very expensive B&W stereo setup so buying a STX was well worth it.
Keep in mind that you don't even really need to buy a soundcard with Dolby Digital / CMSS 3D (Creatives implementation) if you want virtual surround.

I have no idea how good it is as I just use dolby headphone, but if you want virtual headphone surround and your soundcard doesn't have any you can just use that. It installs itself and when you want to use it you just set it as your primary output device in windows, and it then passes through the DSP'd sound to your sound card for output.

Dolby Headphone is different on my card, I have Dolby Home Theatre V4 (which has a version of Dolby Headphone but it's not exactly the same) and Xear surround. So you can choose which surround out of the two you want to use.

They are average headphones. I wouldn't get very tied up in buying a super expensive sound card for them.
