It compiles on their backend, so if you want try some devious Objective C runtime hacks, it's possible.

Why? It will be dead soon anyway
Edit: Learn JS ->
Press F12, switch to console. It (probably) compiles on your machine

Web development is cancer and dying. It's slow, it's inefficient, it's ugly, it's shit. Javascript is awful while HTML5 started as promise of a good thing, but where is it? As usual with that crap, bogged down in countless committees that can't agree on a single thing.
http://sealedabstract.com/rants/why-mobile-web-apps-are-slow/
Native all the way. I would even go a step further and pinpoint - no GC on mobile, kthx. We've seen the performance cost of GC on mobile with Android. With modern memory management schemes like automatic reference counting (at compile time!), this is the way to squeeze the most performance, while having the best tools for UI and code development.
The world agrees here. Major yesterday's proponents of web-focused development have abandoned this shit. Facebook, Linked, Google - gone. Native apps + "cloud"-backed data. Google is even adding Chromebooks
Mozilla can QQ all they want, they bet on a losing horse with their mobile "OS"; it's sluggish and ridiculous. The argument that it's open while the competition is not is ridiculous. HTML5+JS+CSS is equally "open" on iOS and Android as it is on their implementation, with likely better engine behind it (WebKit > Gecko - even Opera agrees ).

http://www.allenpike.com/2013/ios7-catch-me-if-you-can/
It discusses the difficulty of mimicking iOS7 in HTML apps as has been done with previous iOS looks and animations/transitions. This is, of course true about newer Android OS releases as well.
