Are u sure ?? XII on the PS2 was original with all the controls u could configure to really micro-manage the battles (like automatically cast Health when HP<20%).
From XIII, i agree we only had pos (long corridor with poor scenario and boring battles) and i'm sure that next XIII-2 will be a pos also.
What square enix should understand is that we want good ff like thd vii and ix (in other words we want square soft like ff ) and with the hd gfx from today. I really hope that this is we will get with the next PS4 FF !
The only FF I liked was FF 12 because it was the first FF that isnt turn by turn, and as bill said, you could configure the hell outta it, like to make it faster etc.
I know most people hate it though because the change was dramatic between this and the older beloved FF.
FFXII Was the start of the shite (FFXI excluded because it was a MMORPG and X-2 because it was a totty game / spin off and not a true FF continuation), and frankly whereas it used to be "Ohhh new FF game must buy it" its now "I wonder how they have fucked up the good name of FF this time"
more people should have bought Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey and Mistwalker should make more of them.

This. And being honest I played, finished and enjoyed XII a lot, but it doesn't hold a candle next to X (or previous games of the series). X-2 was the same, but I didn't enjoyed it nearly as much as XII. IX on the contrary, I absolutely loved and would love to play a remake of it, tho I still prefer X over it.
If I had to replay the series, regarding the 3D games my order of preference would be something like this:
1. X
2. IX
3. VII
4. VIII
5. XII
6. X-2
7. XIII

I've been putting off another playthrough of 10 on pcsx2 for over a year now because they announced this just when I felt like playing it again... hopefully I won't have to wait that much longer. Didn't expect them to take this long to make this HD remaster...

Nes/Snes Final Fantasy were awesome, 7,8,9 were ridiculously good on PS1 (8 was ok), after that downhill begun. Whole Final Fantasy turned to shit when PS2 came and its emo style.

FFX was not the best in the series by a long shot, but it was the last one that was not seriously fucked around with.
After X we were given a fucking MMORPG, then they removed the turn based style and random battles for XII, and well XIII Welcome to endless corridor land.
XII and XIII in there own rights were probably decent games, but they were not Final Fantasy games.
IIRC the decline really started (ie the major fucking about the game mechanics) with the merger with Enix (although I beleive FFX was sent out with the Square-Enix logo, but even that was poor when compared with the best)
As I said the games themselves are ok, but they are Final Fantasy games in name only, the content is unrecognisable when compiared to what the old games were

Square Enix has confirmed that both Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD will feature all the content of each title's International Edition from the PS2 era. That means extra bosses, additional missions, exclusive items, and other bonuses are in your future. The collection will be available on PS3 for an undisclosed price (we're guessing $40), while the PS Vita versions will require each game be purchased separately.

When we last heard from Final Fantasy X/X2 HD, Square Enix was planning to release the remasters this year. And then the publisher went a bit quiet. Has Squeenix forgotten about it? Has it given up on making Final Fantasy games? Be cool. X/X2 HD is now slated to launch some time this winter, so it may be slipping into 2014 but it's still coming.
Square Enix has revamped the PlayStation 2 RPGs Final Fantasy X and FF X-2 with shiny new graphics, an updated soundtrack, an expanded ending and whatnot, as befits a PlayStation 3 and Vita release. On PS3 they'll come in a double-pack, but are to be sold separately on Vita.

Just so you guys know, DON'T watch that trailer in my link unless you've played and finished the game. It's purely for the existing fans so they can show off the "HD" makeover (PCSX2 still looks better, except for the FMV cutscenes) differences and it spoils the story completely - including the ending. So yeah.. if you've not finished it before and want to play the HD remake when it comes out; don't click. Just read the release date and then walk away
there where too gay like , part 9 was more back to the roots of old Snes games but the story was crap [bunch of pirates want to steal the princes for ransom but the princes wants to escape then they get to know a mage and the you found out he is a robot ...meh even the ending was awful ]
but at lest it was something
part 10 was "we get YOU , part 9 was awful so we take element from the marvelous part 8 with part 7 ... and add sport" awful awful game ... X-2 on the other hand brrrr that GIRL POWER vibe you get, was so awful even the most hardcore fans said "WTF IS THIS SHIT"
someone ripped the voices from the PS2 version so Ive got the Japanese version with English txt and English voices now.
(voices are only from FFX no FFX2 voices yet)
