OVERVIEW

DIRECT DOWNLOAD

It looks beautiful. That engine would suit very well for a new Elder Scrolls game

engine demos are always very pretty when theyre in a controlled environment, and while it does look pretty, im kinda indifferent until i would actually see it put into practice in an actual game.

Yeah I don't like it too much either. For me game like Skyrim looks better overall

Anyway this is a result on my i5 2500K and GTX660Ti, average and max could probably be a bit higher, since I use Rivatuner/MSI Afterburner to lock 59 FPS in all 3D applications.

Skyrim heavy modded beats any released games so far on open world atmosphere, details and such, about this...let me free roam into it and I might say something about, but being a controlled demo nope.

And that is the difference many people don't seem to grasp here.
Having skyrim look better then this, renders it virtually unplayable for many people, yet this benchmark does come close to the quality of skyrim with such mods, but it can sustain a better framerate.
(altho with skyrim other things should be taken into account aswell that need processing power, but the difference isn't THAT much.)

Well those screenshots really look great Shocked
But like you also mentioned, to look this good, you need a pretty beastly PC.
Still nice to see, what is possible with modding.

alan wake is a fucking gorgeous looking game. the only real failings are the low quality models and textures... the artistic design was phenomenal, as was the lighting.

http://steamcommunity.com/id/shivnz/screenshots/?appid=108710&sort=newestfirst&browsefilter=myfiles&view=imagewall

all my alan wake screens Very Happy damn i want to play it again.

that said, its not really fair to compare an engine tech demo, with the artistic expertise that remedy demonstrated in alan wake and say it LOOKED better and have it be relevant to the quality of THIS engine.

pity you all seem to get caught up in the low res texturing and models and go 'lulz game looks like shit, hurrhurrhurr.

as i said, the games artistic qualities far outweigh the models and texturing limitations... sad most gamers cant seem to look past that.

Nah, actually I agree with you , the visuals were damn solid overall. (I've taken several screens too -I think they're still in the official screenshots thread- with pretty great results). It's just.. well I really wanted to post that Laughing

Oh well, back to OC card and CPU again.

And please, run windowed Extreme (as with Heaven 4) so we all run the same benches with same settings, otherwise any comparison is impossible.

No matter what I did I couldn't get it to run at 1920... So my results are Extreme HD (not Extreme) @ 1680. Apparently Unigine believe everyone have 16:9 1600 monitors or 1920*1080 HD monitors, ignoring the common 16:10 1680x1050.

Some runs had weird hickups where the lowest FPS dropped by 10fps, I tried everything from 1185 to 1225. 1225 on GPU gave SLOWER performance (and artifacts, I guess a lot of internal error correction/retexture/reloading of stuff caused the slowdowns). I was helped from lowering (!!!) voltage to get 1190/1195/1200/1210/1220 but 1185 gave the best performance for some reason.

Mostly ran pretty smoothly. There were just a couple of hiccups when the rain started that brought the average framerate down. The DOF was god-awful though. I really wish devs would stop with that stupid "cinematic" bullshit.

well... i tried it...

if you wanna impress me, motherfucker, make it so that if i turn my back to the rain, i dont get any drops on the screen Very Happy

but seriously.. anyone else find the depth of field handling (the blur) kinda... iffy? also, was it just my setup or was there some frankly ridiculous pop-in, namely shadows and detail during the scene where you start off high up, and then fly in close to the ground...

i dunno... kinda had me feeling meh about it, beyond one or two nice effects i saw with the rain...

Sad day, when 2 puny HD6870 (at 2x €150,- cost with a year in between..) are almost as fast as a single 680 Cool Face

I'm wondering if it's a CPU bottleneck, as my 560Ti SLI rig beat out the 680, but we are both running i7s (albeit an old crusty one in my case) while he is running an i5.

Well other benchmarks say that dual HD6870 lies in between 670 and 680 if scaling properly.
I know it does (performancewise in games aswell), but it's always nice to see and rub it in for once grinhurt
