I don't know if it's just that i'm an old fart but very few games grab my attention for long anymore. I still love the PC for games, but I really need suggestions for a game/games to really grab my attention and keep me hooked. Below are the games I love or like to give you an idea for suggestions

1.Absolutely love

Anno 1404 (but played it to death)
Oblivion
Morrowind
Folktale (Early access on Steam http://blog.gamesfoundry.com/)
The Settlers
The Spellforce games

2.Games I currently have installed but never finish
Skyrim
Gothic Fosaken Gods - Enhanced
The Witcher 1 & 2
Van Helsing
Kingdoms of Amalur

There are many more that I may have forgotten but I love the Anno games and The Settlers, not really interested in the military aspect but enjoy the city building/research etc. As you can see I also like the odd RPG, but prefer the character development/exploration and crafting to the fighting/moves/spells etc.

So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, something I can really get my teeth into and enjoy, no online games with tons of daft kids playing them though. Thanks.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is a good strategy game. Anno 2070 is good too. Gnomoria is shaping up to be a good strategy game, like Dwarf Fortress. Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes has been sucking me in. So has Warlock: Master of the Arcane.

I'd say to give Mars: War Logs a shot.

Also, you loved oblivion but couldn't finish skyrim? Reaction

i don't know.. Fallout 3 is pretty obvious, but still i would recommend it.
on my 5th or 6th playthrough already and I can't get enough of it.

also recently i've been playing Don't Starve a lot. it might not be as close to the games you've mentioned, but its worth it.

I've been replaying the Stronghold series (as in everything before stronghold 2/3 Razz)
I think you would really enjoy these games since you seem to enjoy basebuilding with anno.

You probably played or know these already, but since these weren't mentioned yet:

- Nehrim(a full conversion Mod for Oblivion)
- Drakensang
- Dark Messiah of M&M
- Arx Fatalis
- Darksiders(not a RPG, but good nonetheless)
- Alpha Protocol
- Fallout New Vegas
- Two Worlds 2
- Ys games
- Silverfall
- Wizardry 8

Crusader kings II, Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis?

Don't know if you are into those kinds of games but I always tend to sink in a lot of hours with them.

All three look kind of the same but they have their own focus points. I always stuck to Hearts of Iron then went on to CK II. Never properly played an EU one, but I'm planning on giving that a try when I feel like playing a grand strategy again Smile

I don't really keep your list in mind since sometimes we just need something different to ignite the spark again. For me it started again with organ trail and costume quest (and me turning away from the MMO genre). Smile

Thank you to you all I really appreciate your suggestions and I fully intend to try out some of the games mentioned, although, admittedly I have tried most of them.

Now these are one's I had in mind to try. Crusader kings II, Europa Universalis. I also bought and tried Civ 4 and 5, and Age of Empires, but for some reason could not get into them. I found AOE too militaristic (is that a word? Smile ), I enjoyed the gathering, setting up the community etc but felt the conflict was too much of a major factor in the game play.

Please do keep them coming.

Hearts of Iron 2 is SO GOD DAMN GOOD! Can't get enough of it. Plenty of mods that change the whole experience over and over again. Grand strategy is the best. Try Victoria for a 19th century experience Smile
