It is amazing how fast it's going up. Already $220,000+ in just a few hours. I am beginning to think they really could have funded a larger game like Psychonauts 2 this way.

305,852$ right now. These guys are raking in cash FAST! And quite a bit of people opted for the more expensive options.

$322,939 already. You only get the game btw when you donate 15$? Isn't it logical that you also get part of the revenue of the game when you invest in it?

Your return on investment is the game itself, which has value and it is guaranteed.

Shocked

That's real nice, hopefully the STALKER guys will be able to do something similar.
And other small developers too, who knows what people might come up with without having to depend 100% on shit publishers for their funding.

I agree, tonizito. The Funds are growing at an exponential rate. They'll reach 400k in a fewhours. I wonder when exactly the project was posted to Kickstarter. Want to know just how fast these guys raise 400k.

I'm not impressed in the slightest. I know my Generation of gamers pretty well (And I'm German! The country mentioned in Schafer's video.).

But compared to the masses of CoD-Zombies, they are itsy bitsy tiny small. And small doesn't make millions for publishers.

Anyways, Developers could have done it this way... way, way earlier... and I bet that it was Notch who assured him that this will actually work out flawlessly. Most Devs are so scared nowadays thanks to those Publishers who are throwing "Too risky!" at their heads... at the firing rate of an machinegun.

What's to believe? Sadly Nexus 2 kickstarter didn't generate anywhere near the 400k it needed.. and the time has passed now Crying or Very sad Last I checked, it got to around €130k before the timer expired.

Sigh

i hope it will be true 2D comic style, other than that no publisher means they can do it their way no strings attached

And the "adventure games are in our dreams....memories... and germany...." quote made me lol irl

Why is this exciting and why should I donate? The only great thing they made was Psychonauts in 2005.

Brutal Legend was great fun, Costume Quest is magnificent and... and.... umm... yeah, that's pretty much it. I'm not overly keen on Stacking and I've not played Trenched/IronBrigade.

Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert.

Those 2 are the reason to support this, not Doublefine as a whole.

The thing is still going up by about 1000$ a minute. Might break 800k$ by tomorrow Very Happy

Uhm, this is obviously the Testrun for Psychonauts2 because shortly after Notch said that he would help financing the developement of Psychonauts2, this comes up. And the guys who made the documentary about Notch are filming the developement.

I'm pretty sure that after (or in between) the developement of that Adventure, they'll gonna announce Psychonauts2. That's even more possible now thanks to the huge success of the Kickstart.

What do you mean? I don't see the connection between this and Psychonauts. Why would this game mean Psychonauts is any more or less possible?
