Deep Silver, the publisher of Metro: Last Light and Dead Island: Riptide, has announced it will release twin-stick shooter Narco Terror in the coming months.
The shooter will release for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in Summer
Developed by Rubicon Organization, the digital-only title is "a sophisticated, action-packed twin-stick shooter that thematically harkens back to classic action movies from the '80s and offers great diversity with several arcade gameplay sequences," according to the publisher.
The game features customisable weapons and, in addition to the twin-stick shooting elements, will also include 2D side-scrolling sections. Protagonist Rick Quinn is tasked with rescuing his daughter from drug cartel head Delgado, which he will do with the help of his former special ops skills.
Fun little budget game, probably better with two players but it's a nice solid shoot-em-up and with a full 3D environment which took a while for me to get used to, I probably should recommend a gamepad as well since the mouse aiming feels a bit odd or sluggish which is usually not something I notice but it's there in this game.
Basically you start at a level after a brief cutscene and go from one end to the other while being swarmed with two sorts of enemies, melee and shooters with both using different weapons and such, some also throw grenades from stationary positions.
There's a few cutscenes per level driving the story forward, for those that care about such in games like these.
(I kinda do but I'm too busy shooting everyone and everything for points and powerups, ha ha.)
Runs fine although there's not many in-game options, you can save and load whenever from what I've tested which is a neat addition.
That should give a better overview on the game.
(I haven't watched any of the videos but he does cover a lot of these "smaller" releases which is very useful.)
