|
 |
Hello fellow humpfers.
Today I wanted to share that I have accumulated good experiences with a piece of software called Joplin.
https://joplinapp.org/
I use it to track my progress, organize save-games, keep notes about the games central.
Some games, but specifically the RPGs and such, I require a little help to finish them, because I get easily de-motivated and drop a (good) game, because there's been much time between the plays (because of work or whatever), that I forgot what I wanted to do next, where to go next, which places (secrets?) I wanted to backtrack and checkout after I receive new abilities etc.
In the old days, I literally made hand-written notes (Metroid II gameboy era).
Nowadays, nobody makes notes and most ppl goto wikis. But Wikis are dangerous, because they might spoil too much info, so I try to avoid them as much as possible.
I use this piece of software instead, because it supports easy image clipboard pasting, files work drag and drop (save games, mostly from emulators), etc.
It's really a very good help to remember even bigger games.
I remember when I was playing Final Fantasy I on the PSP, I couldn't finish the game if I'd also played other games concurrently, or even if I stopped playing it for two days straight. Basically, I "bench-played" this game til the end, but it was very hard, also mentally.
By using helper applications like Joplin, I think it relaxes the mental requirements for old fuck me to enjoy even longer games.
I'm currently using it for Fire Emblem - The Blazing Blade (GBA) and Record of Lodoss (thx Nodrim for tipp).
Theoretically, even MS Word/Libre Writer or even WordPad would be sufficient for the job, but I find Joplin good, because it has the ability to export into other formats as well.
(And because on Windows, it's more convenient than using Emacs' Org-Mode, which is my no1 goto for coding/programming, but overkill for a quick gaming session).
Anyways, I just wanted to share that.

"The hyperbole, the demonization of the other opinion and the unwillingness to even read the opposing opinion destroys the so important political discussions necessary for the well functioning of society.", Couleur

This is super cool, I struggle with the same shit and also used to keep notes. I wonder though if I can bring myself to use this. I feel like I would already just use notepad++ if I was going to. Either way, thanks for sharing, super cool idea.

Nice thanks and yeah same problem, i guess it doesn't really help that i'm pretty much only interested in genres with extremely long games.
