Hopefully they sell millions of copies so they can create Supreme Commander 2 with that nice engine

Quiet old guy.
I really do hope that they make a good effort. As much as people like DOTA there isn't a super amount of depth to the game, some people have equated it to CS for RTS people. Not to hijack the thread but they definitely need to put more into the engine for SupCom 2.
Given how small the dev team is for demigod I don't know how long it is going to take for them to release this game and I think that Q4 2008 is being very optimistic.
My 2 cents.

Demigod to feature no on-disc copy protection; set to launch February 2009
|
(Just quoted the headline, there's a bit more in the article linked to on Gamershell.)
EDIT: Oh and this seems very positive for those wanting to test the game.

To fully support a public beta that will launch this summer, the launch date for Demigod has been moved to February 2009.

Oblivion had none either. You just needed a disc in the drive.. .iso images or burned copies worked just fine.

This hybrid creation from Gas Powered Games, developer of Supreme Commander, has said that Demigod will be pushed back to an early 2009 release. This is to collect and work with all the summers’ beta feedback from gamers.
Demigod is a RTS-RPG mix; Stardock will be publishing the game both through retail and digital distribution channels.

The early beta tests are just 'stress tests.' They are not going to be fun.

Soon as it starts, you can expect it. I'm still a DOTA fiend and this is the next level of progression for it, even stated by the devs... Hopefully they don't make the game overly complex and leave a little of the beauty that is dota there.

YaaaaY<!> Yet another game announced over a year before it even begins to see progress as a release. I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting mighty fucked off with these companies hyping their games .. and then making us sit on the back-burned for over a year before they finally get around to releasing it.
Also, don't give me any of that shit about "waiting for a finished product" - because that has nothing to do with it. You can finish the game and THEN announce it, rather than trying to force a media circus by hyping it before it's even close to finished. I'm SICK of waiting years after announcement for games. I can name at least 10 games that were announced over a year and a half ago .. and are, only now, getting info updates on.

LOL! Fuckin' Aye!
I don't mind hype, I just hate hype that is generated 12-18 months prior to release. It's annoying and frustrating .. especially for games that constantly get delayed. I really like the look of Demigod, but it was announced in Feb this year -- and STILL won't be getting a release until earliest of Feb NEXT year! Gah.

I hear what you're saying broski. That gameplay trailer fucking made me so happy. It looks like what I wanted it to be. With the preorder I'll be in beta in a few weeks, and I'll be able to play for like a half year, and see it get developed, which I think is EXCITING with a game like this. I'd recommend preordering too if you're not strapped for cash.

At the price (I'm currently in Norway, so clicking the preorder link shows a price of 231Kr, which is £23!!!) I'm definitely considering it! £23 now means I get to play the beta for 6months .. and then I get the full game when it's released. I like those options |
They dont charge your CC til its released anyway lol.

I just tried to pre-order, but they do charge the card -- I got an instant decline (and I checked my bank too, which also shows StarDock tried to charge my card)
