We have had a toll plaza on one of our main motorway for 12 years, and now its cashed in the amount of money it was supposed to in less time than the expected; 15 years, and will now be removed - great stuff(?) Smile

A huge amount of people travel past it every day, so people where like WOW, the day is finally here, no more toll charge Very Happy For once the Norwegian drivers have something to be happy about.

...but when something sounds to good to be true...

The cost of removing the toll plaza will be 26mill NOK (325000 euro) Very Happy
And yeah, the drivers are the one paying... 1-2 more years?

Anyways, some people just had enough and wanted to take matters into their own hands. Enough is enough and a large FB group (where else?) was made, and it wasn't just words... they have started to take it down themselves. Altho, I think its just retarded, because its only gonna cost more in repairs. (yeah, they are gonna repair the damages even tho the toll plaza will be taken down)

I think it's good that they take matters into their own hands, and wish more passive Norwegians would do the same. Our government is so fucking greedy beyond bounds, and we get shit like this all the time.

If i'm not mistaken, up here where i live we have toll posts which has really run it's due, but are still up and taking cash from people.

And the taxes have only gotten higher and higher lol.

Nice temporary tax indeed...

why remove the whole plaza? just leave it there, but remove all the equipment and barriers and stuff? maybe for 300k eur they will level it all and put new asphalt so cars can pass it with 130km/h? and why wasn't the removal cost incorporated in the first place lol?

Pretty much exactly what I commented at one of the articles. Well, except the speed. Max speed on freeways in Norway is only 100km/h Sad
Anyways, I think safety is the biggest reason they won't do anything like that. And even with those autopasses the speedlimit today goes from 100 - 70 - 50.

well at least you burn 1-2/100 less fuel driving at 100km/h instead at 130 Razz

but yeah, having a 200-400hp car and a max legal speed of 100km/h...

My wife and I completely agree. Why remove it? Just take out the electronic stuff to prevent theft and vandalism, then leave the structure as it is.

having 200hp+ cars ... there is where you can stop.

I find it stupid and utterly moronic for them making cars so powerful for normal use.

Imho cars for civil use should all be capped at 100hp max and all cars should have their motors capped at 140kmh top.

then limos/jeeps/pickups/SUVs that have weight around 2-3 tons won't be able to safely pass other busses/trucks or overtake in general, not that I mind most all those social wannabies Smile

You actually have a good point there. And in Norway the politicians seem to think the same way, thats why we got very high taxes on "supercars". And it works, I rarely see any cool cars on Norwegian roads

Most people who are into drifting here in Norway don't have license plates on their drift cars, either because the car simply isn't road legal or it would be way to expensive to get plates on it. 400-500hp cars can stay at the track imo...

I don't know about 100hp max tho, it all comes down to torque of course, but a lot of those 100hp cars even the smaller ones could be a problem acceleration wise...
Iv found myself in dangerous situations because iv changed cars, suddenly I don't have the power I need to get past a car and I have to slow down :/ Its not a problem when you get used to it. But a speedcap is most reasonable. A lot of cars are already capped but at way higher speeds than 140
