Quote: | As movie audiences gear up for the next installment of The Hobbit, gamers now have their own Tolkien project to get excited about. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is on its way to a game screen near you on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, we feel the upcoming game showcases some of the gameplay innovation potential now possible on next-generation consoles through its groundbreaking Nemesis System.

Please, please be good.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

So are these next-next-next-gen-gen-nextest-gen features missing from PS3/360(and PC?) versions or is it just a gamejourno being a gamejourno?

Press release:
Quote: | Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, a next-gen, third-person action game set in the legendary Tolkien universe of Middle-earth. In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, players explore an original story of vengeance and redemption as they take control of Talion, a ranger whose family is murdered at the hands of Sauron and his army the night they return to Mordor.
Developed for next-gen consoles, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor introduces the Nemesis System, a powerful and dynamic gameplay mechanic that allows players' actions to shape enemy relationships and characteristics to create personal and unique story and gameplay arcs that are persistent even after death. Players experience a unique game every time as the dynamic world reacts and adapts to their choices. |
It seems to be open-world action game

This honestly sounds too good to be true, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Very interesting concept if they manage to pull it off, it's not easy though since Monolith have never created something like this before.

The Battle for Middle-Earth was pretty decent, wasn't it? Never got around to playing it myself.

Yep it was good actually. Nothing revolutionary of course, but it was a proper strategy game and pretty damn unforgiving too. The sequel had some problems and wasn't as enjoyable sadly (never finished that one).
The Return of the King was nice too, standard 100% action game but quite fun and faithful to the franchise.
Then there are the LEGO games.. (which aren't bad either )

I've thought about something else these days... Was there actually ever a really bad LotR game? Well, not in my opinion. TRotK was a surprisingly good movie-adapted game, especially back then. The strategy games are pretty good... I actually managed to play them for a while (after which I got bored because strategy). Conquest is a game that I really loved, even though it didn't had that much going for it. I found myself replaying it quite a lot a few years ago, even though I'm not a person that likes to replay the same game a lot. War in the North is actually a really good game in my opinion. I really loved it and I plan to play it again. There was also that old Fellowship of the Ring game, which wasn't that good, but it still had some charm to it. So yeah... I never actually thought of any LotR game as being bad. It might be that I'm biased because I'm such a huge Tolkien fan. I don't know...
As for this one... I don't know for now. I have one thing to say: SO FUCKING WHAT IF IT ISN'T A RPG?! How about we get a really good action game for once? I actually feel like the pure action games aren't as many as they should be these days.
Also, it really does seem now like this is THE reason they wanted MERP down so much.

When exactly trailers went to shit hole and now are only "empty promises" without gameplay, i knew them before and they were empty promises WITH gameplay. *SIGH*
