Katana ZERO is a fast paced neo-noir action platformer, focusing on tight, instant-death acrobatic combat, and a dark 80's neon aesthetic. Aided with your trusty katana, the time manipulation drug Chronos and the rest of your assassin's arsenal, fight your way through a fractured city, and take back what's rightfully yours.

Run, sneak, walljump, grapple hook, roll, slash bullets, toss pottery, and slow down time to complete levels.

A rich story filled with unique characters, all tied into the gameplay and level design.

I approve of this
Looking good indeed, both the style and gameplay.
What a pleasant little surprise this game is. I installed it out of curiosity and genuinely couldn't stop playing until I eventually reached the end (took me about 3 hours, not without facing moments of proper samurai spanking).
It combines the Hotline Miami formula with side-scrolling levels focused on pure melee rampage, mobility (dodging, jumping, slow-mo 'n deflecting) and a surprisingly strong mindfuck-y storytelling all wrapped in beautiful pixel art. Slicing enemies feels meaty and satisfying, fights are brief but bloody intense (m&k's implementation is a decent one, too). It's a very short experience, but definitely worth trying for the pure dose of adrenaline and neo-noire-sque atmosphere.
I really don't think anymore that the "the game is short" should be a negative. I'm glad that we have them. In a world where every game is padded to become a 100+ hours experience, games like this are a very healthy breath of fresh air.

I bought and installed it thanks to Ixi's recommendation here. I would miss this little gem and it's glorious pixel art thinking it's a platformer. It was great.
Can't believe it took me this long.. what a great gem ! The gameplay just clicks perfectly (Hotline Miami got on my nerves after a while, but I don't seem to get frustrated with KZ), the soundtrack is great and so is the pixel art.. Awesome !
And great story too, of course, it was a nice cherry on top

Yeah, you're even better off with M&K imo, you need to aim your sword slashes alongside moving and targetting those with a mouse comes much more naturally to me - I wouldn't mind the pad for movements tbh but I suuuuck at precisely aiming with a stick
