I don't think you can ever truly achieve that sense of speed in games without completely debilitating the driver from the ability to corner at the right times.
I've heard nothing but good comments about this for the PC version (which is being reworked for it's later release with more simulation features - APPARENTLY).
Would like to hear what the console version is like at least though.

I have tried Richard Burns Rally, and I recommend anyone who is gonna
buy a Xbox rally game this year, to wait for Colin McRae Rally 2005...
Release Date 10/04/2004.
Because I think this game is worth about 60% in reviews.
Hard to drive, it feels like you drive on soap all the fu.. time!
And when you look at the speedometer and it says 100 kmh,
it really feels like 50 kmh.
The graphics is not good, more like mediocre PS2 graphics,
than top notch graphics on Xbox.

i read in a preview that u need over 10h of driving to get used to the control.
being a simulation, its kind of normal that the controls are hard in the beginning guys !

I really wanted this game to be good, but it's not.
The sense of speed is weak and the feeling of taking turns and
breaking are non existing. The controler only vibrates when the
car is outside the track.
The only thing worth watching are the replays, the are great.

behind camera is good for aracade games like burnout, for rally games in-car came is a must!
it's also almost impossible to drive from behind view in a game, if you have ever drove real car...

I don't see this at all, it feels pretty damn fast to me. Especially with the in-car view which is what I normally use.
Keep in mind that the speed is in kilometers per hour and not miles per hour... When it says 100km/h that's actually only about 60mph you're doing, and 100+km/h feels pretty damn fast to me in this game!
I'm a big rally fan and I love this game so far, best rally sim since Rally Trophy. My only disappointments are that the damage modelling doesn't seem as "complete" as Colin McRae 04, meaning that there doesn't seem to be as many ways to damage the car. And also I was hoping for some longer stages (though I've not unlocked all of them yet).
The handling and physics feel absolutely great though, probably the best I've seen in a rally game. But it's definitely more of a simulation and both requires and rewards practice and some dedication (I definitely recommend getting comfortable with all the Advanced Rally School lessons).

First of all I always drive with the bumber/hood cam. Second, yes, I know it's km/h.
Take Rallisport 2, yes it's a arcade game but there you feel the power of a 300 bhp engine, you feel the vibrations from the tires and brakes
when you tear through the roads. And it's actually feels like you driving in high speeds.
This game lacks all that, instead you'll find youself looking on the speedometer all the time to find out if you driving to fast to take the next turn.
And by doing that, you easily loose control of the car.

I have played a lot of all kinds of rally and track simulations. I like games like Colin McRae Rally, Rallisport Challenge2, Project Gotham Racing, Gran Turismo series, Live For Speed, GTR mods, so I have some experience of car games, and I can tell that this game is plain shitty crap. I have never seen as bad handling as Richar Burns Rally has. It's almost impossible to keep your car straight in this game. You move thumbstick a 0.0000001 millimeters to left or right and your car spins or rolls. That's just crazy. This game gets 55/100 from me.
LOL, some people say that it's just part of the simulation that hadling is difficult, but when you go 200 km/h in this game and it feels like 80km/h and you fear to touch your controller so that your car won't go out of track, that's not simulation. It's very far from it.

Oh well, they could have at least optimized it a bit for normal controller. I mean, how many console player has a wheel? I don't know anyone who has. Wheels are for computer simulations.
