You mean DVD image subtitles? I am not familiar with sites that distribute those (or the newer PGS format of Blurays).

I too prefer those, so I just download remuxes which include them, and get rid of the SubRip (SRT) crapola.

Uhm. Why would you want subs where size, font and position has been chosen for you, instead of just a text file (srt) where you can customize all of the above? Scratch Head

Because the size, position and typeface are often a stylistic choice made by creatives, which cannot be easily reproduced (and certainly cannot be ripped with automatic tools). With HDR media, subtitles also have brightness information that is suitable for the scene they are displayed in, this not BLINDING YOUR EYES (white subtitles in a dark scene) or UNABLE TO BE SEEN (grey subtitles in a lit scene).

Man, you brought me back to my warez days. Is this 2005? Laughing
To answer your question: it will be wiser to convert .srt files to .sub+.idx with subedit than to search for subpacks. Otherwise check subDB.com, but I don't know if they are still a functioning database.

I think that OpenS....org offer subtitles for certain languages.
I guess we don't understand each other.
For example.
Its realease movie: Someone Somewhere 2019 BDRip x264-NODLABS
and in nfo file I see:

Release date ...: 01/2020
Duration .......: 01:50:15
Resolution .....: 720x390 (@ CRF 19.0)
Frame Rate .....: 23.976fps
Language .......: French
Subs ...........: English / French
Genre ..........: Comedy, Drama, Romance

Where can I donwload their subs, no whole release?

You misunderstand. The subtitles are embedded in the MKV. That's how it has been for a long while.

Yes, if the nfo says it contains subtitles and it's not in a separate file, then it is inside the mkv. Iny our media player select subtitles, there should be a selection of English/French or it may just say Track 1, Track 2 or something like that.

Ok, i understand.
One last question.

Release:
The.New.Pope.S01E01.INTERNAL.720p.AHDTV.x264-FaiLED
MEDIAINFO
Container = Matroska (mkv)
Duration = 00:58:42.760
Filesize = 1 GiB
--Video
Codec info = AVC High@L4.1 | V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
Resolution = 1280x720
Display AR = 1.778 | 16:9
Bitrate = 2 383 kb/s
Encoder = x264 - core 158
--Audio
Codec info = AC-3 | A_AC3
Channels = 2

No subs in nfo.

And on czech subtitle pages are available at the same day czech subtitles with info:
realase: the.new.pope.s01e01.internal.720p.ahdtv.x264-failed, rip from VOD.

So everybody has source...no public source Smile

Indeed. To each his own I guess. I like my subs small and in the bottom of the screen in the least obtrusive way, which is why I always opt for .srt even when there are "perfect" subs in the .mkv already. I also always 'clean up' my files (i.e dubbed sound, irrelevant subs, chapters and global tags) so there are only tracks left relevant to me. I'm kinda OCD that way.

I do that too. Often REMUX releases contain a "compatibility tracks" and some such nonsense that I remove.
