I've never had the chance to try it but apparently it wasn't exactly polished and received very mixed opinions. Hope they fix everything this time, because I like the concept a lot. Razz

It's been out on Steam for a couple days and just came out on GoG today. Should be released soon hopefully. It's not bad of a game.
Can't wait for them to release Redshirt too.

Damn, I know that they improved a lot of stuff, but 25$ for a game like this is simply foolish in my opinion. I'll go with my usual ISOdemo->75% sales routine when I have the cash Razz (and if the game deserves it)

Hope it won't be as left-wing biased as Democracy 2 (which still sells for 20$ loool)

We don't even need a crack. There is a GoG version that is always DRM free. Someone just has to buy and upload it.

Played a bit with the UK and the default settings were very easy. Reached a point where I was the only conceivable party, no societal ills, steady surplus, no crime, no poverty, max education, etc. Pretty much a perfect utopia. Might try to turn the US into a fascistic theocracy, if I feel like playing more.

In the updated version there is an option to disable assassinations.
Some mods are out with new interesting policies and new countries. This one is better than Democracy 2 so far (apart from the assassination frequency). Still Geopolitical 3, even with all the bugs, is more fun imo. The scale ofc is bigger in that game.

Ah thanks for the info, just think the assassination was a bit over the top. I'd expect protests, riots maybe a few botched attempts instead of going from 'this group is starting to get annoyed' and then followed by a 100% success rate of killing me off.

Will give it some more tries with mods and the patch then Smile

I thought I was the only one. I was getting assassinated pretty much half way through the first term. :\

It was rather bit of silly.

Damn it.
My utopic world failed so bad. Low taxes except for the rich bastards, nearly pollution-free economy, heavily taxed corporations, free health care and education (with lots of benefits for the poor families) and cannabis for everyone...it dragged me down. Sad

They mad!

I'm going to die soon. RIP US president.

Silly Germans, falling back into their old ways. All that's left is for me to issue compulsory military service and I've managed to take it back some 70 years to a not so celebrated time. And the kicker? The populace loves me (something like 97% approval)! Very Happy

In all seriousness though, Germany sure has its shit together compared to the US in this game. High tech, no poverty, clean environment - pretty much everything is done for you when you start playing.

The US on the other hand has a mountain of almost insurmountable fucking debt. This can in large part be addressed by halving military and space funding, but as soon as the global GDP takes a dip it's right back in the red. So far the longest I've managed to hold out is a full term and halfway through the next one before being whacked! Sad

This is absolutely true Very Happy, in fact my experience with the US is getting really desperate at the moment with the debt that keeps rising for no logical reason. My first run (the utopian above) was mainly for fun since it wasn't feasible and I got Kennedy'd after some months.

Then I started the serious one, but as expected cutting the most obvious expenses doesn't really work, it only makes some people angry (the ones that count) and your position unstable. A subtle long term plan is required, and it also needs to be very balanced (as in, you can't simply lower the taxes or focus on satisfying only 2-3 classes, everyone needs to be fairly happy to not fail). Free healthcare for example is a huge risk, as well as helping the poor people. The GDP can't handle it and you get downrated as soon as they notice it...and it's a vortex to hell. Now I get why every American president struggles so much!

Italy obviously isn't even in the game since a democracy couldn't be possible in the first place. Laughing

Yea - I managed to survive two terms but it was a delicate balancing act. Halving military funding is the first step that gets you on your feet - from there it's a delicate balancing act of slowly increasing sliders without pissing off any one faction too much. At the end of my second turn I had gotten rid of the crime epidemic via getting rid of Alcoholism and increasing community policing. I was also running a slight surplus ($10-100 billion per turn, depending on economy). Other than that, i didn't get much accomplished apart from staying alive.

If you're feeling lonely legalize Gambling and crank the slider to max - the mafia will pop its head up in no time! Very Happy
