The company behind Spellforce was bought by EA a couple of years ago. After being put to work on stuff like BattleForge, Lord of Ultima and C&C: Tiberium Alliances, Phenomic was finally closed by EA. Another studio goes to the EA's burial ground, after being misused.

And you were perfectly right. Spellforce built a good hybrid based on what Warlords Battlecry did years before it, just a hell of a lot better. At least, the Spellforce IP it's not at EA. And maybe the devs might work with Nordic on making a new Spellforce. After all, the series was intended to be a trilogy.

I know. Thank the gods for small miracles. If it were up to EA Spellforce would already be a f2p browser title. Nordic might of course do the same, it's all business, but until they do I'm hoping for an end to the planned trilogy.

There were three series at the old Jowood that i've loved passionately: The Guild, Gothic and Spellforce. Well, there was also some love for those Giant series ( Transport, Traffic and Industry ).
So far, none of those series is doing too well. I hope Nordic to work with Piranha and the exdevs from Phenomic to bring back some of the titles.

Well there is a third expansion coming in 2014, Spellforce 2: Demons of the Past, so MAYBE now some of the original devs will at least do contract work on it.

Yaaay! Hope someday they work on Spellforce 3.
Of course now they'll probably make a MOBA, everyone else and their dog are doing them.
