First off.

RAM died in server FJIKJFSDklahfhgsafhkbsdj so now its running on 2 x 4 GB rather then 16GB Sad

Secondly

HDD died, this is not such a major issue, I only used it to mirror my SSD just to be safe, but Dksajfhjisahcfjdbfvsd

thirdly,

I changed my GFX card from a GTS450 to a GTX275, so I needed to change PSU, found an old 650W in the shed so I fitted that.

Now under the 500W in the PC before it worked fine, but i wanted to be safe as I knew it was pushing it, now with this 650W it dies under load

I already gave the 500W away because I am a nice guy and knew someone who needed a PSU

Aye, that's what I am waiting for (the RAM prices) I just cant afford £99 for 16GB this close to Christmas, especially given I have three children.

The HDD is a pain more than anything, it was only (only, I remember upgrading 40MB's) 500GB, and I planned to replace it in the new year with a 3TB anyway, but its still a shit :/ its the combination of things so close together.

they say in the UK (dont know if its anywhere else) bad luck comes in three's, so hopefully thats my lot and everything else will be good.

In Poland we have a kinda similar saying but with pairs - misfortune / bad luck/ bane comes in pairs to be more precise.
Couple of years back I had my HDD dead almost in the middle of a project for my studies. Fortunately I own both a PC and laptop, so I plugged the laptop HDD to my PC, moved most of the data and sent it back on warranty which would expire in 3 months. I've managed to buy a bigger one in the meantime (I was planning to do it anyway, but not in that specific moment), and the replacement came back 2-3 weeks later.
2 years later - almost the same story, but now RAM was the "culprit". However, having both these problems at the same time would definately by more...well..problematic.
