First one was okay. It was fun but consolish as hell and it ruined for me the whole experience. I hope the second would be an improvement.
Looks good so far.

I don't think it was too consolish to detract from the experience. In fact, the looong dialogues showed the emphasis put on the story. And the story is Bioware-quality, it's like playing a space movie, saving the galaxy etc.
Awesome !
I expect the second to deliver more of the same pwnage. I'd like the companions to act more smartly in combat though. And less empty planets, even if it means ... less planets overall.

So, am I to believe that Shepard is dead? Or what is it they wanna tell me with that, I am confused...
Nevertheless, first part was awesome, second part is gonna be awesome, third part is gonna be awesome (iirc it is planned out as a trilogy, right?)
The story was really good but I admit that a lot of people thought that it was too hard to be a "bad boy" but I couldn't know, I can never play a bad guy in any rpg - I freakin' try! and fail everytime...
Btw. am I the only one who really loves the Mass Effect novels by Drew Karpyshyn? They're not world literature but they are an interesting read (and anything set inside the Mass Effect universe is a must have for me)

I hope the console version gets delayed to coincide with the release of the PC version.

They want you to think that Shepard has been turned into a Geth.

I loved the first Mass Effect, imho the best RPG together with KOTOR1.
I hope there gonna release the pc and xbox version simultaneously.
The "use your ME1 save to effeet the story in ME2" feature is also nice to look forward to.

What do you mean, go wrong ? Say the wrong thing in a conversation and get a bad ending of a quest ? That's kinda irritating and everyone just reloads and checks walkthroughs to get the right ending, like I do with Fallout 3
This is XP we're talking about, serious business !
The thing I'd like to change is more distinct options in conversation. It's hard to predict what Shepard will say by the convo options descriptions you're given. Sometimes, he says something totally different than what I want to say, damnit
But I love the Charm/Intimidate options ... they "resolve" the situation in a very nice way usually, hehehe.
In this playthrough I'm playing it Renegade style and I've dragged the others down with me, especially Garrus We're bad boys, going around the galaxy killing with no fucking remorse, answering to noone, delivering our own brand of "justice". The Council can kiss my battle-hardened ass !
And you know what I'll choose at the ending, muahahahaha !!!!!! Check mate, motherfuckers !

Mass Effect 2 in "Early 2010"
[Mar 17, 2009, 12:48 pm ET] - Share - 7 Comments
EA and BioWare officially announce Mass Effect 2, though a sequel to the sci-fi RPG has already been revealed via a GDC listing, a teaser trailer, and comments and actions from BioWare. The announcement does fill in some details however, including Windows and Xbox 360 as target platforms, and an early 2010 release window for part two of what they are calling the Mass Effect trilogy. Here's the announcement:
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – March 17th, 2009 – Leading video game developer BioWare™, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today officially announced Mass Effect™ 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the multi award-winning 2007 hit, Mass Effect. The Mass Effect trilogy is a masterful science fiction adventure set in a vast universe filled with dangerous alien life forms and mysterious uncharted planets. In this dark second chapter, Saren’s evil army of Geth soldiers has just been defeated, and humans, who are still struggling to make their mark on the galactic stage, are now faced with an even greater peril…
“We’re going to surpass the extraordinary gaming experience we brought our fans in Mass Effect by delivering intensified combat and expanded weapon options as well as increased depth of planet exploration, all while delivering a powerful, emotionally engaging story,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, General Manager and CEO, BioWare and General Manager and Vice President, EA. “Mass Effect 2 is shaping up to be an unforgettable RPG-shooter experience, taking players on a non-stop roller-coaster ride filled with stunning plot twists and no-holds-barred action.”
Mass Effect 2 is coming to PC and the Xbox 360 video game system in Early 2010. To see the exclusive new Mass Effect 2 teaser trailer check out the website here: www.masseffect.com.

Well, i hate to admit it, but if it wasn't for EA buying Bioware, we probably would've wait long months before seeing a PC release.

No wait = crappy port + ea factor = extra crappy port
Long wait = quality port (more likely to be one)
Depends on the publisher in the end if they decide not to put some effort into optimizing it for the pc then it doesn't matter how long you wait.

The first was a kinda good port (at release) , but they didn't fix the bugs it had for many ppl (I was lucky) Don't know if it's Demiurge's fault, I think the publisher didn't keep financing them to work on a patch, until recently.
I'm still waiting for the patch and the second DLC, goddamnit.

I don't see all of the hate over EA. Sure, they like to milk the cash cow, but their games are usually pretty solid and their ports are always good. Mirrors Edge , Burnout Paradise, and Dead Space are excellent ports and unlike some other companies they aren't 6 months behind the console versions. They all run great on less than stellar hardware and look far better than the console versions.
