IMPORTANT: because there was some Misunderstanding,I will mark this:
this thread is NOT ONLY about hacking the console and running back ups,it's also about the Hardware addons like the controller and the Eye camera,the Hardware it self and technical stuffs.

Basically it seems the discs are just psn games + rif key. PKG (games) are encrypted with the ps4 pkg aes key and the game executable is most likely encrypted with the rif key too that is obviously encapsulated in the rif file.

It will be up to other groups to do a PS4 Jailbreak release in 2016 for people to enjoy a Jailbreak on their PS4 and potentially run Linux on it.
The Cturt PS4 Kernel exploit and the Fail0verflow Linux on PS4 announcement are the most promising leads for a PS4 Jailbreak at this point. Other hackers have contacted us to let us know that leads of a PS4 Jailbreak for the latest PS4 Firmware 3.11 are being worked on, but nothing has been officially announced yet. |

while i bet that they have learned shitloads from the past generations, having a new architecture shuffles the cards quite a lot. There can always be a lucky break or an exploit unforseen by Sony. But since this is a new gen, every exploit will be met by Sonys mightiest hammer.

Its not only on running backups... its also on other stuffs like homebrews,emulators and expiloting the console addons like the camera and DS4 for variety of uses...

For you maybe... expliots are not all about runing your "isos". its also about do things with your console you bought Sony limited you to do. runing PS4 backups might take a while.... ,other stuffs like homwbrews and explioting the hardware addons are likely to be out faster.

im no hacker but what iv seen the PS4 seems very similar to PS3s OS, its still updated the same way and even has the same recovery mode, so hopefully it wont take hackers 5 years since they already know the format, just need the exploit.

I don't like this license.rif file thing.I'm no expert but it seems that this file controls everything or what? Will Sony be able to block the use of the same game on another PS4?

In 5 years when the PS4 gets cracked, VR systems on the pc will be so widespread and advanced that theres no longer any cause to have a PS4 or XBONE, theres just no comparison

im no expert whatsoever so dont flame me but surely there must be some shared code between vita and ps4 due to the remote play thing where you swap from ps4 to vita and back again - possibly look at that?

It probably will be hacked sooner then ps3, cause they have experience with emulating blu ray drive. real system exploit would ofcourse be better then emulator.. but an odde will probably be made first

I was referring to your claims of wanting "homebrew" and what not; just like Mathieu always claims that he's not in it for the piracy. 
And Mathieu did more, sure. I'm not involved in the PS3 scene. Then again, even if I did do some hacking I still wouldn't be a pompous, pretentious asshole like him and go "HAHA I GOT STUFF...BUT I WON'T SHARE NOR SHOW PROOF". |

Oh and I'm not being antagonistic, I'm just saying that obvious parallels between the systems are going to come up - and often - when hacking is involved. I doubt there's going to be anything concrete for the PS4 for many years to come, the Vita still isn't hacked - the only "hacks" for the Vita are for the PSP-mode
