Honestly the 1st one was a pretty average game for me. Bought it day1 and the same as uncharted: not bad, but nothing special.
Yes the 2 characters have good voice acting and they have their moments but thats it, and I think as a game thats not enough to make it stand out from the crowd. Same as bioshock infinte, thank you for creating that sidekick girl but I that's just too much work done on that particular thing whereas the game -in other aspects- lacks of content.
And yes I've finished the 1st one....took me around a year or so.
Or maybe the game's marketing was succesfull in "making the game good" in the people's eye?

The last of us beginning / early game is boring. It only got interesting for me when there were humans and not zombies.
My favorite part is thus when you encounter David.
some mechanics were indeed dated, for me uncharted is still a better game, because it s faster paced but the story in TLOU was better. Uncharted 4 is the only uncharted that gotten this right (probably because the same team did it).

My biggest problem were the zombies.
And I hate zombies... luckily for me the game was 50% zombies 50% humans so...

I'd take that with a pinch of salt. The original came out in June, if that's anything to go by. Plus the "I'll kill every last one of them" comment, I interpreted that being aimed at a human faction, given that she was surrounded by dead humans at the time of saying.
