Man, every time an interviewer asks me this question I want to punch him/her in the face SO MUCH. I think I got my sale pitch down perfectly but I can't help to think just to shout in his/her face NIGGA IM BROKE GIEF JOB PLS.

Hiring Managers in large corporations are so stupid, they don't know shit about the position and yet they insist on asking questions. I had an interview for a testing position but lady asked me what kind of computer I have and my specs. I told her it was custom build with a 3.0GHz CPU, 8gb of ram, ssd. She literary ended the call after that with "that's all the questions I have for you now" and I never heard back from them again..lolwut Laughing Laughing
I often think about that answer and I should have went with just Dell and shut up after that.

That's it. Wish me luck today :X

"With a girl sat on my face and another sucking my cock" is not the right answer ?

Don't get me started on those idiots. I don't get the reason for all these standard questions when you can just look them up on the net and prepare for them perfectly. And other things are never ever checked.

I always have great English skills with in my CV, but did I ever get checked for that? Nope. I don't care if it's relevant to the position I am going to fill, check my facts please and don't just ask your silly questions that any idiot can prepare for. Just once I'd like to see an HR guy exchange 3 or 4 sentences in decent english with me.

The job I took now only had the managers of the IT department interview me, no HR person present. It was the most chill interview I had, they were out of questions in 5 minutes and decided to hire me based on my actual knowledge in the field.

There's also the variant "Why should we hire you instead of the other applicants?", which is always a train wreck for me because I'm not very good at lying. Razz Laughing
And because you always need to find the good balance between being a cocky douchelord and humble fella, it's not easy at all, especially when you most likely don't have the required skills. I just smile and nod!

Best question for me as of today
- how many dogs do you think are here, in Cracow?
- ...who the fuck cares?

Of course the question was from an HR person, the IT guy was more or less on topic.
Fortunately, most of the interviews I've been to involved technical test prior to the talking, some English ones as well, sometimes even a quick chat on the telephone in English and then an interview in the office with tech guys with no stupid questions.

Have the answer ready before hand, because it's (sadly) another commonly asked dumb question Sad

This question is repeated in nearly each interview, and I think it is common way to test if an applicant has prepared himself for the interview. It's a hard question if you are unprepared for it, but this is something you can easily prepare beforehand to wow the interviewer with tons of bullshit Laughing

i'm on other boat.
i'm working at the same workplace like 15 years ago.
every call i get from headhunters after introduction sounds like : "what do you want to come working for us ? "
at my workplace we have a relaxing interview.
first, one of the "elder gods" have a chat with the guy/girl who wants in. i usually walk with them in the building, i explain what are we doing, working hours, facilities, try to see what kind of human it is. i ask about his former workplace. i appreciate an honest answer like "i want here because you pay better for my skills". but almost noone is telling me that. i expect to be asked about the place, not robotically accept any crap i tell.
after that we stay at a table, and i tell what we are expecting from him. professional and human side. nothing fancy. i prefer a good man with lesser knowledge willing to learn vs a shithead with good knowledge in the field and a high horse. the only strange question i ask for example is telling him to draw me a house. i expect to be asked details of the house, not a puzzled look, and 10 minutes of thinking without doing anything.
after that part, head of his department comes and see at what level it is.
if all is ok, next month (payed) will come and work. after that, we have an evaluation (based on pure work relationship). if one of his new colleagues want him out, is out, no matter the rest of them.

That and "Doing you wife/daughter. Reaction " might not be what the employer wants to hear. LOL

But yeah, I agree that interviews and standardized questions like that are awful for a number of reasons. But I've had worse, like various timed physics/logic test for jobs that had nothing to do with that.

I recently started at a new place, and 2 weeks ago when I got interviewed I actually giggled when I heard that "where do you see yourself in 5 years?" question. Fortunately they didn't took it the wrong way but at the time that was the one moment I thought "well, I fucked this one up pretty quick". Laughing

I know what i said looks to be pointing at blaming British people, but i meant it more generalized.
