I know, I was being an ass on purpose. I'll give a fuck about Cliffy B. again if/when he produces something of interest again, because UT2k3/4 is pretty much where it ends. UT3 could've been great, but wasn't.

yup, cuz its exactly that. still dunno how it menaged to be so popular, at least back on original xbox it was kinda a graphical showcase of console possibilites (tho still too generic, cheerful, overstaturated and childish for my taste). the same goes for killzone on ps2, both halo and killzone in comparison to, lets say, half-life 1 felt like cheap shit with boring gameplay and non-existent atmosphere.

I like arena shooters, if he makes one I'll at least try it before dismissing it.
It's a shame UT3 failed, I hear UT3 Black was what the game should have been from the start, but by the time it was released it was too late and CoD4 was released and roflstomped other shooters.
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

I wonder what was it that made UT3 fail? I loved it since the beginning, this is coming from an UT99 veteran but who didn't play much UT2004 because of not having the proper hardware.

Too many balance issues, strange movement, terrible maps and terrible, terrible marketing (none). It wasn't bad, just not good enough to really make it.

Consoles are casual shooters like cod made it fail. Back in 2000 all of my friends played ut 99 and q3, than when cs came out, they all started playing that crap.

CliffyB ... fuck him ... but fuck yeah, man!
Truth be told, if any of us could have lived his live, we probably would have. Started at 17, with his own company, success after success, when it came to games. And he didn't get stuck at a single concept, he innovated (even though I hate GoW - not as much as modern military shooters though). You really can't doubt his affinity to game designing. He understood the times.
I know you guys, you generally dislike successful and arrogant people.
I listened to his podcast - he seemed cool and level-headed. Podcast is interesting.

He's still a dickhead - an opportunist who will come crawling back when it suits him. He burned so many bridges with PC gamers, I can't see a Kickstarter working out for him. He made the most unbelievably narrow minded and retarded comments in the past decade that will haunt him to his grave. He can shove his new games up his ass - Gears of War is a dreadfully overrated and shitty cover shooter which poisoned too many other games including Mass Effect 2.

If PC gamers will hold a grudge because of those comments, then I will be disappointed by PC gamers.
Cause for all the love other developers get, and for all their nice guy stuff, do we have a modern arena shooter? NOPE. Who's the big name, who decided to give it a shot? Cliffy"dickface"B.
Couldn't care less about his words, if he made a good game.
It's such a gen-y thing to hate on success. Cliffy had massive success, I hate him too, for what he said about PC gaming, but if he does this, I'm first in line to buy it. First.

Someone loves him some Cliffy
Seriously, there's been plenty of arena shooters over the past years - not more or less than there were 10 years ago. People just don't buy them anymore and an arena shooter without people playing, is worthless. Also, most FPS games get deathmatch tagged on anyway as MP component - people just love large open maps more these days than enclosed zones.
