I have a rather odd problem with Steam, i have contacted them but not had a reply. I have also searched but cannot find someone with a similar problem.

On the main screen/library/comunity etc my default language is English which is as it should be, however when I add something to my wishlist it defaults to Italian, it also uses the Italian language when I click on a link to a game forum/or read more etc on a game.

Obviously I have checked all my settings but it still insists on defaulting to Italian a lot of the time. This is on the Steam page and the Steam app.

Not a big problem but slightly annoying, any ideas?

Try setting your client language to Italian, restart, then back to English.

Perhaps it is some weird bug on Steam side. I personally haven't heard of the issue. Maybe the support will shed some light on the problem.

Very Happy
Watch out, it's very aggressive and automatically discovers all your naked pictures.

In all seriousness, this is a weird problem indeed, since it affects the client as well and not just the browsing. The latter happened to me too (Steam was completely in Hungarian, I blame Zmed's hijacking skills Very Happy) and I fixed it by simply changing it back to English while I was logged-in on Firefox.
Perhaps a clean Steam reinstall could do the trick? (don't forget to move your SteamApps folder first, or you will curse a lot).
Or you could try to switch to the beta client and see what happens..I don't know how to help :<

I think the Steam Client uses IE cookies... Before any uninstall, you should go into IE and just wipe every Steam cookie. Might help.

No, not necessarily. For one thing, it depends what browser he was using when he clicked on those links (if it wasn't IE, then it won't have affected IE's cookies). For another, those country codes don't always change the language. I had a language issue in browser recently, with the market and community being in Dutch. The CC codes meant I got all prices in British currency, but it still didn't change the language.

I use Firefox, I will try a new install of Steam, but as mentioned it is a problem in both the browser and the Steam app, so that suggests to me it is linked to my Steam account somehow. I could perhaps understand if it defaulted to US English, but Italian? Laughing
