|
 |
Ok, with the approval and sponsorship of Neon I bring thee this new category.
Basically, the idea is to nominate those PC games that left an impression on you with its visuals, no matter the engine/technologies behind them. But if you want to nominate games based solely on technology, or on what you think looked the coolest, then by all means do it
Usual rules:
1. You can nominate 5 games maximum, but you can nominate less than that.
2. The points the game receives are based on its place on your list, for instance, 1st place gets 5 points, 2nd place gets 4 points etc.
3. The final 5 games are going to be put in a poll on January 1st, 2014, and the final poll will decide the "winner".

1. metro LL - this game looked fine
2. crysis 3 - minus points for being dx11 only.. metro did it with dx9
no other games really impressed me
arma3 looks great but frustrates because it could have so easily been better.. put some proper displacement shit there
graphics and visuals aren't really the same thing though
papers please was visually very pleasing

1. Metro Last Light (when you crank up the details, it's close to perfection in terms of realism and sense of immersion. Shame for the average facial animations, but we can't have everything)
2. Crysis 3 (if there's one thing that Cevat can do, is to provide visual candy, and Crysis 3 definitely did not disappoint in this regard. Even if NASA is still building a PC powerful enough to run the whole thing without framerate drops)
3. Remember Me (simply the best use of UE3, ever. If it wasn't for some of the low-res textures and low-poly models it could easily pass off as a "nextgen" game on PC)
4. Bioshock Infinite (style and substance, this game has both)
5. ARMA 3 (say everything you want about the lack of optimization, but the lighting in this game is truly superb. Nearly photorealistic at times)
Honorable mentions to Lara's tessellated bottom, Blacklist (dat UE2.5) and Rayman Legends for the art style.
