Does anybody here suffer from dizzy spells with certain games? when i was a kid i used to play any game without problem for hrs and hrs... but now certain games where i have to focus on what im doing and the camera moves about alot makes me feel like im on a boat totaly out of balance.

RTS , ADVENTURE , RPG , SIM none of these games do it but just lately i played second sight and the more i played the more i felt dizzy the same thing happened with Dungeon lords, the worst time i had with dizzy spells in a game was awhile ago with doom 3.

Is it because the eyes are focusing on a set point but the brain says everything else is moving?

I did have an LCD but the glare gave me headaches, im now on a brand new 120hz @ 1024x768 screen, flat screen CRT with anti glare screen yet i still get dizzy spells

Try sitting further back from your moni or lowering the gamma. i dont get headaches although sometimes it makes me squint and i get bad eye strain,. Just take a break from the game for 15 mins and you should be alright. dont push yourself to "finish the level" or whatever.

I can't play Resident Evil 4 (for Gamecube) without getting my head messed up, that view is just awful, I can't handle it at all.

I wish it was zoomed out a little more and zoomed back in when you drew your gun.

Other than that I've never had a noticeable problem playing anything.

I couldn't play Duke Nukem 3D without being ill. I would say it's a type of motion sickness.

Unfortunately A-A it's all a part of ageing I'm afraid to say.

It's gradual and eventually you'll be complaining about more than your eyesight - there is a lot of things you'll find your no longer as good at Smile

Don't get me wrong, your eyesight isn't going (yet) - but you can't be as carefree as you would when you were younger. Less time on the PC and more rest for the eyes. Read health and safety as that will help you too - you don't want lights reflecting off the monitor and you want it to be a well lit room and so on and so forth.

The original Wolfenstein 3D made me feel sick - it was those tight corridors, floors & the low ceilings that made me feel really enclosed and nauseated, like I was playing in a box.

Getting a large monitor helps like a 21". Also you can get a tool to calibrate your monitor so its image is sharp & not blurry. Use a high scan rate like 85Hz. Ambient light reflected off walls & no lights pointing directly at your screen.

To help strengthen your eye-sight try focussing on a distant object, then a close one, & repeat this about 10 times.

Try truning off head-bob in options. Or pop a dramamine before playing. (really!)

A friend of mine got so nausiated while playing HL2 on my comp, he almost hurled on me. It happens to some people I guess. Try making the refresh rate higher/lower perhaps, and maybe try getting whatever game you're playing to give you stable framerates by lowering the graphics a bit. Peace,

I agree, best thing to do though not sure how bad you are compared to me only stick to rpg's , adventure , rts.... the main problem games are the one's where camera angles swing about or fast movement is needed, third person - first person are the offenders

A few games make me feel motion sick. The first game I noticed it on was 'Spyro the Dragon' on the PSX. Now, I don't get it quite so often, however, when I am getting frustrated in an FPS because I can't find Key X or Door Y, the sickness starts to creep in. When I am making good progress I don't feel it.

Oh, and I recommend you stay away from Cold Fear Wink That's set on a real tilting boat!
