For anyone who's played Skyrim, you would know how average the lighting system actually is. There are rooms where light casts no shadow, rooms with no lights yet it's lit up like a Christmas tree via ambient light, and 'night' time being a fucking joke since you can clearly see everything for miles.
Over the past 4 nights (and partially days) I have been going over so many configurations... lighting mods, ENBs, combinations of both, yet I still can't achieve what I want.
ELFX is probably the best mod IMO, but it was primarily made for indoors. The night time version of it sucks, you can still see everything. When I mix it with Climates of Tamriel, light sources are dimmed and it looks stupid. It looks like they cover your screen with a 50% black instead of making it darker the hard way, so everything is dark, but that 'dark' also includes all light sources in the game world.
RLO has shit day time colours. RCRN dims light sources the same way COT does. Why do people even play with those mods? Have they never seen a fire at night? It's not realistic, it's completely screwed. There's a raging fire on the ground yet it seems to only light up half a metre around the circumference of the fire pit. Torches do fuck all as well, so while dark dungeons are nice, you A) Have to fight having no light and B) fight having shitty light sources.
Anyway. I've tried just about every lighting mod that I can find on TESNexus. All I want is proper lighting with light sources that actually work.
Ideally all I'd like is EFLX light sources but to have it really dark outside too. At the moment when I combine it with anything it just dims the light source the same stupid fucking way RCRN/COT do. If someone can give me the combination that achieves this I will gladly PayPal them $50 for their efforts. Considering I've spent maybe ~20 hours downloading, configuring and testing multiple configurations, it's a small price to pay in comparison to the time I've wasted.
And no ENBs please. Christ, so many of them are HORRIBLE.

The lightning in this game pisses me off so much, it's even worse than in previous games. It's impossible to mod the game and make something look nice under all weather and lightning conditions + the fact that any weather or lightning mod will break the lightning even more. E.g in rain or fog suddenly the grass is bright like in full sunlight and makes the game look terribly unrealistic. The lightning, or rather lack there of, in the distance also makes the game look very unrealistic in less than perfect conditions.

The best combo I was able to achieve is ELFX + NLA ENB. Also used to hate ENBs but this one looks surprisingly great IMO, although I'd still prefer not to use ENB at all. I honestly don't think anyone can give you a config that doesn't look like shit in some areas.
