I'm a western fan, and nowadays it seems hard to find a good western movie. So could you guys please recommend me a good one, or various?
My only requirements are:
1. They must be good and serious (which probably excludes B-movies);
2. Be set on the American frontier and real (therefore no sci-fi, modern, or any settings like that);
3. Be modern (post-year 2000, in way to exclude the more than know classics).
TV shows are also a go, and Deadwood has caught my attention. But it seems the show had been canceled abruptly after the third season, and therefore cut short. As in left unfinished, and that's the reason I haven't picked it up yet. So, is it worth investing time watching it knowing the end state of the product?
And here's a short list out of the top of my head of already seen movies and TV shows that fit the description:
Open Range, Appaloosa, Hell on Wheels, 3:10 to Yuma, True Grit, The Assassination of Jesse James, There Will Be Blood, Blackthorn.
Deadwood is fucking awesome and shame on you for not watching it, shame on you cocksucker.

I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?
Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
These scenes don't actually show the "greatness" of Deadwood. Much like the "motherfucker" scene doesn't actually show the "greatness" of The Wire. These are great scenes, which to people who have scene the series are very dear, perhaps, but to an outside looker, would most likely appear juvenile and repenting.

Since there are 1-2 of these every episode, I say they do show the greatness of Deadwood.
And Swearengen might be the best character in any tv-show ever made.
Sadly, not too many western movies or tv series made in our days. Especially quality ones...Like science fiction, the genre it's not relevant anymore for the corporate douchebags that rule the tv companies.
No, not really. But you do seem eager to pick up a fight because of pure boredom.
Projection is a fine self-defense mechanism prior to its discovery.
I am neither bored nor willing to pick a fight, I am merely reflecting on the obvious here. In this case your self-aggrandizement versus t3h ebil corporations.
