What do I want and what I don’t want for The Hum?
Quote:
In The Hum we will assume the role of a character hopeless situation .Many current horror games focus on walking, going forwards and doing nothing while a random scare appears on scene.
My idea for the game is quite different from that. The player will be in a constant state of abduction, that will modify his own mind as a character (and probably as a player ), which will take him to some strange situations, many doubts and constant re-thinking plus game mechanics.
One, as human being, faces its fears and hopes both consciously and non- consciously, and it is my goal that The Hum will symbolize the totality of human fear, fears not only as individuals but as a species.
I know that on the run, this sounds hard to grasp, but soon we will be uploading some more complete videos in this respect.
Why The Hum?

As a Therapist, Game Developer and Alien topic fan, I always wanted to bring an experience that use the most basic fear to unknown to life. Aliens are an almost unexplored topic in games (not sci-fi aliens, but yes gray aliens) and I always loved stories like X-Files, The War of The Worlds and similar ones.
As storyteller and game designer, I always have been wanted for the right technology to tell something about this topic, with a real vivid experience, and with the upcoming of Oculus Rift and game engines for Indies like us, I cannot let this chance fly!

That first video is actually quite the fail. Talking about fear, yet not 1 second invokes that feeling in this video.
Couldn't feel the atmosphere either (tho with a non finished game I could excuse it a bit).
From the greenlight page it looks like they are trying to do it similar way Bare Mettle is doing it (aka releasing smaller title Exanima/Abductions to support and later release the big one Sui Generis/The Hum)

We know that many people got confused about The Hum and all its universe. The Hum Universe is a scifi universe created by Ariel Arias in form of novels an one rpg book. When he started to bring this universe to videogames, he did it with The Hum (the alien invasion simulator).
But The Hum was too big for one person so, since The Hum Universe is huge and rich in content, he decided to put on hold (not to cancel) The Hum, and make first a "easier" game based on the same lore. And that's how Abductions came into scene.
