Let me guess. You complain about something in a game and get "It's only beta" in response regardless of how long it's left to the actual game release.

Unfortunately many are that naive and/or stupid. The "It's only beta" has pissed me of a great many times as well.

Yeah. Every time I go on a beta game's forum to do a list of the issues, I pretty much always have to explain to some knuckledragger that beta means finding flaws so the devs can fix them.

Why you think they started putting "pre-alpha footage" on every video, even when it's 2 weeks before release?  People are stupid.

In hopes of silencing constructive criticism before the release i'd wager.
At least now we have the early access shit even though i don't fully like it. Instead of releasing a half baked shit game, we're now taken through it's development process and can call it for what it is until it's final.

This is sadly a very common problem nowadays. Betas in most of the cases are either misleading demos of "finished products" or fake alpha-ish stuff like in this case, whereas pre-alphas become in fact the real betas and so on. There's such a hurry to release and milk everything, that very rarely we see perfectly functioning games from day1.
" But hey, it's the always online era, that's perfectly fine!" Nope, it's not. That should be a convenience, not a magical tool that you use at your advantage just because you're a lazy motherfucker 
And the Early Access abuse of late has only made things worse in my opinion, since it generally stretches the development schedules to hell and back and has quite changed the mindset of people, letting them believe that paying for a wip product with an uncertain future is perfectly ok. Not to mention the fact that almost nobody will listen to your constructive criticism, you have no power whatsoever, it's often all an elaborate ruse to siphon banknotes off your virtual wallet
