I have been here for a fair while, and it seems none of us can be pleased Laughing

If it's ok, I would like to run a little experiment. Every week I will run a new poll question, on the type of game YOU would find 'Perfect'.

I'll start things off with the genre, and then during this week, you post suggestions for the next week's question, along with answers. Feel free to add answers to an existing question, and then next week, I'll run the poll with what I think is the most popular question. Then we do it again.

After enough weeks have passed, we'll know what we all think of as the Perfect game!

I would suggest if you are looking for an RPG Open world, then select RPG. If you picked Open world with RPG in mind, mention it in here and I'll take it into consideration when totting up the results Smile

None. There's no such thing as a perfect game and if a game would come close to that it wouldn't really belong to any particular genre. It would have elements from most genres and it would combine said elements to create its own new genre as it were. So yeah... I think this is pretty dumb.

The perfect game would most likely be a RPG, even if 90% of the titles in the genre are just subpar clones or simply not worth one's time, a percentage bigger than in any other genre, IMO.

Open world RPG, with first person camera. Or a wing commander type simulator with full cockpits and with a branching and dynamic carrier based campaign. Drooling

BTW you skipped the genre "adventure" on propose?

The core genre would definitely need to be an RPG, but mastery of core mechanics from other genre's would be crucial as well.

I feel quite bad at picking only one, because it would be almost disrespectful towards the many great games played during all these years, but definitely I'll go with (w only)RPG too. It's the genre that (by far) has kept me entertained for the largest amount of hours, and with the lowest disappointment ratio if we exclude them Bioware devils

Open world (or semi-open) is my preference, the camera doesn't matter, it can be either isometric or in a more immersive first/third person. As long as it's not watered down, I'm game. Very Happy

I expected someone would come along and say something like this - to which I say, this is a bit of fun and not a serious thing. Of course it's impossible to please everyone, but in order to discuss what we all class as our own idea of a perfect game, which would actually be impossible, we work with the majority - so whatever genre we pick this week, you would shrug and go along with it, then answer next week's poll question to the best that would suit you.

Why people feel the need to come into a discussion and proclaim it's pointless is beyond me - if you don't like it, go talk about something else in a different topic.

That's part of what this is all about. Once the primary genre has been identifies, we start asking questions about what the game MUST have to be classed as 'perfect'.

Don't forget to post here what that question should be next week, so we can keep this going!

MMO

Star Wars Galaxies Pre-CU without the bugs, a bit more finished content, improved graphics and the expansion: 'Jump to light speed' that would handle like Freelancer. Something like that would tick all my boxes... sadly it would also need to be released 10/15 years ago due to the gamers we have these days. Razz

More realistic vote would be: RPG. Even clunky ones I can appreciate.

Open World, because that were the first few games I played when I was younger. It doesn't exclude anything from another genre though, I mean seriously, even titles like Syphon Filter did feel huge and "open" back then.

Why the genre has to be a cornerstone of a perfect game?

To me, it is not the genre but rather execution. Even a damn FPS an be a perfect game... if done right. None were so far tho >_>

An open world MMORPG played from first person perspective, with shooting and melee fighting mechanics, ability to drive (race?) cars or pilot both airplanes and space crafts and with some army management elements...? Cool Face

You lost me at MMORPG.

For me, the perfect game has to have an epic and immersive story. Massively add other "humans" and you lose both.

(I know you were just joking)

My heart goes RPG with fantastic story but really I'm sucker for good turn based strategy (or puzzle game). I love the feeling that my brain still works.

I would of said rpg as well except these days I find them devoid of challenge or openworld which makes me Sad . lately spending my time with strategy or simulation the latter being harder to find a decent title. I wish todays rpg was less action orientated

Why list FPS but no TPS? You could even combine them; FPS/TPS. But listing just FPS? Makes no sense.

Where are adventures? Where are puzzle games? Where are survival horror games?

So many RPG fans ITF. :O But I guess it's not surprising seeing as every damn game these days is marketed as an RPG/with RPG elements, even shooters where you can unlock some upgrades.
