Ironic, Epic's Unreal 3 engine is currently powering WAY to many games on the pc platform... Very Happy

Anywho, Fuck Em! Gears of War wan't anything special as I as a pc gamer felt that I had played that type of game so many times before and btw, I had the same feeling back when Halo1 got released on the pc (boring repetitive shooter with fucked up pixies with guns).

I guess the console fucks are easy to please since they haven't tried anything more advanced than the interface of a Final Fantasy (Should be called pedo fantasy Imho) game... Very Happy

This is a good thing, really.
The sooner corporate finance get's out of the industry the happier I'll be.
Remember some of the best games ever made were developed in some guys bedroom on a shoestring.
I know, I was there in his bedroom alpha testing when Jez San created StarGlider.
First guy to get an OBE for services to the industry, long before Molyneux.

Funny, the team behind The Witcher have recently made it clear that the game was a big economical success despite the game "only" sold 1.2 million copies. i guess it's because Cd Project Red is based in Poland and not in the US where a game nowadays has to have a budget like a big Hollywood movie to be even considered being great.

But The Witcher isn't even a small simple (but fun game) It's a big awesome rpg that rivals the biggest titles in that genre Smile
So I'm just gonna give small developers my attention (and money) in the future as they seem to have both feet on the ground.

From what i gather its only the "multi-platform" companies that complain about the PC.
They claim piracy is killing them instead of the reality, which is that their products and routines are outdated when it comes to the PC market.
Most products get ported from consoles to PC, not to mention the consoles get the product first. So yeah, why would i buy a second copy of a game i've already brought for my console?
Then you can go on and discuss the diffrent layouts game have in controls and difficulty levels etc, that further negate the PC experiance of ports.

Imo if u want good sales on the PC market, make damn sure to develop the game for the PC aswell instead of a lazy "port" aswell as giving the PC market same release dates on games as Consoles...
But ye... easier to blame piracy on the PC platform then to take responsability for your products and your own shortcomings...

The main problem is that actually the development of an AAA title from scratch requires a huge amount of resources, and obiouvsly such an important available budget must produce appropriate returns. Sadly, consoles are the main source of money so it's clear that devs are just milking the more convenient market pointing out the piracy issue as an easy excuse, and ignoring the constant process of :derpment that PC games have to substain thanks to the kind heritage of consolization.

I know, it's Bullshit, but what really pisses me off these days is that the morons that only know gaming on a console are actually fucking up the truth about pc gaming and gaming on any platform simply because they are many and we the geeks are few.

Life was easier in the 80's and 90's when me and few of my friends where gamers and the other "Cool kids" thought we where strange nerds, why? at least we had gaming to ourselves and the devs. listened to us.

I don't get it. If developers like Remedy and Epic Games flat out don't want to support the PC anymore because of piracy, can consoles start incorporating mice and keyboards? Or can someone MAKE a new console with mice and keyboards?!?!?!?!

I'm getting pissed off by this circular logic of "due to piracy our game will not ship on PC" and "why implement mice and keyboards on consoles, if you want a mouse and keyboard you can simply get a PC".

Except, I can't buy these games for my PC because "due to piracy our game will not ship on PC". Sad

GoW was decent, nothing special but I was interested enough to want the sequels
How long was the PC version delayed? there can't have been too many people who hadn't already played the game through a friend or relative considering the hype the game got

UT3 was screwed up
I bought the collector's edition fairly cheap a year or two back and the game is still in the box
The demo was enough to show me that Epic ruined their best franchise
More people are still playing UT2004, for some reason Epic can't figure out why, idiots

Anybody got a list of these great independant developers that piracy killed off?

It would be nice for once if a developer would just admit that they're in it for the money and nothing else instead of resorting to the usual bullshit, they'd still be cocks but least they'd be honest

Without enormous organisations with thousands of useless people that doesn't actually have anything to do with the games themselves being paid salaries etc. it would be a different matter. But they ALL have to be BIG, something that is VERY costly. They want huge buildings where they can flash their customers and investors, tons of flashy offices and furniture etc.. So it's only natural that they're interested in ONLY the money.

They've lost any fire in gaming they had after striking it big (in this case with Unreal and Unreal Tournament). Now it's just about product, revenues and big fat bonuses. That's how the gaming market looks today. It's cynical, greedy and there's very little fire and ideals left. The days of young adults with semi-genius minds hacking together amazing products that they got a few thousand bucks from are long gone.

That's a GOOD thing. Eastern European games are usually miles ahead in atmosphere and experience while American games are high tech but rather shallow and empty (with some notable exemptions). Stalker, The Witcher, Metro 2033 etc.. Mooooore, give use mooore our eastern brothers and sisters...
