Ok, Guys Im finally reaching the end of my Server/HEC project... So I was wondering what you guys might think of those "start specs": Wink

Athlon 1800+
M7VIT Grand from Biostar.
80 GB Maxtor HDD ATA-133.
2*256 Elixir PC2100 DDr Ram.
Geforce 4 MX 440.
Chill Innovation CP-510A.

So what do you think?

*Im also planning on a TVTuner and 2* 200 GB Serial-ATA HDD's from MAxtor's Diamondmax 10 Series and 2 Gamepads for the NES/SNES/SEGA Emulators Smile

Though all that when I get my new Paycheck in 2 months Razz

OK, so you will use it for listening to music, videos + server tasks. Looks fine to me. What server tasks are we talking about? Linux would also be my preferred choice for such kind of system. It will run faster and there is full HTPC support + emulators.

Well the main role of this new server is to hold up alot of Media, Games, Appz etc. And then the playback on the TV, Emulation Play, Music player comes into use. Though I have no experience with Linux at all but if it can do all of those things (and more Wink) then I would certainly try that instead of a Windows OS

LOL, that's a perfect job for MythTV (Linux frontend). No It's not hard. If you like you could start the hard way with Gentoo. This way you will learn a lot of stuff and have a very easy maintained system. Or you could go the simple way with Ubuntu.

X86 off course. And you need the universal livecd. However I'm not an expert on this. I just followed the manual myself and learned a bit more by reading the forums. Asking in the forums would be best. More "experts" there.
