To director of production Chris Cutliff, though, the most explosive aspect of the "MLB" series, the thing that has made it such a dominating force in the world of sports video games over the past couple of years, isn't the addition of a few animations or hanging their hats on one new back-of-the-box feature. "Every area of the game is getting a lot of attention," Cutliff says. "Our strategy is to add so much detail that some of these great moments won't even happen until you're deep into your season.
"We're attempting to make a game with as much replayability as possible. That's what it's all about for us, adding in those little details, those plays that make you want to rewind right away and show everyone. Those are the types of things that really make a game feel special, and that's what we're trying to capture. Everything we do is about trying to make the most realistic experience possible."
...and it's not bullshit either. Just check out Operation Sports forums for MLB: The Show's previous titles and you'll see all the little details they put in add up considerably. You can read an early preview for the game here; ESPN Games and if you're an existing fan of the series there's quite a lot of interesting new features listed, so check it out if that's the case.
This is one of the best sports franchises I've ever played, and MLB 09 is one of my favourite games from this year. I'm not a baseball fan, at all, but you soon pick up the rules because it's such an addictively detailed, in-depth and entertaining representation of the real thing. I'm actually more excited by this than God of War, Gran Turismo or any other big franchise you care to mention so don't be put off by the fact it's baseball (which I do realise is pretty hard thing to do). Thankfully there is a demo for MLB 09: The Show on the US PlayStation network... so if you're at all curious you can check it out for yourself. MLB 09 is one of the highest rated sports titles on metacritic so it should give you some idea of the platform the next iteration is going to be building from. Oh and, people often say NHL '09 & NHL '10 are two of the best sports titles of recent years, and whilst those are excellent games, MLB 09 blows them both out of the park!
heard nothing but good things about 09 but still waiting for it to go below a score , very rarely see it mind :/

but you know what Chinese whispers are like; some newbie will read your comment and suddenly run and spread it all over the internet that the new 2010 Banwave disables all your XBLA games when you're banned.
they only stop when it's raining heavily ... not exactly easy to pitch a wet ball properly, not to mention that it's easy to damage the in-field when it's raining.
other outdoor sports stop when it rains as well (tennis and even sometimes soccer).
MLB_13_The_Show_PS3-STRiKE (16.922MB) is out 3 days now for anyone interested. Works on internal.
Game also has a new Beginner Adaptive Mode for those unfamiliar with the sport.
New version (MLB 14 The Show) will be released on 01/04/2014 for PS3 and on May for PS4.
The game's already in hands of many people but no release yet.

Game works only internal even though it can be copied to FAT32 external. The problem is that Multiman identifies the "big" files as "Split" as they have the wad.6600# extension. The result is that the mandatory install of 5gb or 10gb in internal can't be done and the system hangs. I haven't tried the external game data option though, but I doubt it will help.
You need a cobra Cfw to either play it from ntfs or iso.
The game does indeed have a big file, it s just iMARS splitted it already, and you need to join the parts back.
Yes, they splitted the big files when ripping. Idk why they've done this. Maybe to make faster the process of transferring to internal and save time by avoiding the FTP procedure.
Anyway, the game works internal only as previous versions.
Also, as long as the game is already on internal I don't see a reason to choose the 10gb mandatory install over the 5gb. Am I right cyclone?
Edit: The game is brilliant (if you love Baseball ofc). The Quick Counts feature is superb for all of us that don't have the time to "waste" 90 minutes in each game. With this feature every game lasts 20-30 minutes.
The game already looks stunning on PS3 and it's like watching the real thing. I'm curious to see this on PS4 this May.
They didn't split anything. They just ripped it to external, and MM splitted the files automatically.
And yeah no point into having a mandatory install at all on CFW.
WOW just wow the dev seems to have put in lot of effort in making the game as im as possible probably only NBA2K comes close to it when compared sports games, the PS4 version maybe tempting .. headshot....
The Show is a fantastic franchise. It's the best of Madden , FIFA , NHL , NBA etc imho
I'm not a huge fan of baseball but i love The Show and will most likely get this for the PS4 in May. I wish EA would put the same effort in the NHL franchise

There are several camera options for pitching/batting/fielding. Go to Options-> User Gameplay.
Also, set the following on Auto: Fielding, Baserunning (I have them always on Auto) and Throwing (keep this on Auto as it will help you learn faster the rules. Disable it later)
In addition, use these settings: Meter for Pitching, Timing for Batting, Buttons for Throwing and Strike Zone On.
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
