I'm in the mood for some dark fantasy.. Any suggestions? Any good indie i've missed? Doesn't need to look fantastic though it can't look like Dwarf Fortress - if it looks worse than a 40 year old C64 game i won't bother. The more "sim"-like the better, but its not a requirement. Not too interested in battle sims though, like Battle Brothers, it needs to be a bit more fleshed out..

and yes i've played Dark Souls and bloodborne already.

thanks, i'll take a look at Balrum since it was 75% off. Interesting concept with the farming. hope i can stand the controlls (read they were bad).

edit: ohhh yes, this is awesome. very Ultima / Divine Divinity-like! Even the graphics are tasteful. don't see the problems the dude had with the controls, yes they're a little sluggish but nothing too bad, in comparison to something like Ultima 7 the controls are next-level stuff Very Happy

I assume you have but just in case, have you tried Kenshi? It's a bit rough and hard to get into but I love it for it's uniqueness.

probably one of the first people who played it since i worked on it. I'm not fan of it though, but i should give it another shot at some point.. its one of those games that 100% should appeal to me.

@Ampee yeah quite cool game, actually had a physical copy of it (sold it + some other PC games like 2 years ago because i needed money).

The gameplay itself is nothing to write home about (to put it mildly) and there is little exploration involved, but if you stick with it both the story and writing are quality. Especially if you follow the evil side, as the game doesn't really judge you for committing heinous crimes Very Happy

Sounds cool, though i do want my exploration in these games... Smile

@ lolozaur, tried it with that expansion that just came out... what a crappy game, looks worse than a modded Gothic 2 imo... also there's no jumping/climbing/swiming and you can't even fall to your death.. no, it seemed terrible from the 30 mins i played, it's like they were clueless about what makes open world RPG's great..

This reminds me of 2 friends (well, they are twins so maybe it has something to do with it).

One will always ask me for some game or movie suggestion and after telling him some for 2 hours he finds something completely different to what he initially wanted and say "ah, this looks good, I will play it instead".

The other one will ask and after 2-3 hours he will come up with "Thanks, I installed Force Unleashed (for the 435436th time) again or watching movie/series X for 34326th time. Laughing

haha, yeah.. though its hard to find anything really good in this particular genre that 1) I haven't played already 2) isn't in early access 3) has the mechanics i'm looking for (sim-like qualities more than arcade'ish)

i will admit i'm super picky when it comes to games these days, i just don't see any point in playing games that are half-decent for example, then my time is better spent with something else than playing.

Baldrum was fun, for a while, though it ended up like a game i don't really want to spend hours on, the quality isn't really there..

Witcher 3 got installed too, might ending up playing that again Laughing at least that will satisfy my dark fantasy itch and i know beforehand that i like the game.

It's not exactly an RPG, but I would recommend Darkwood.

I own all of them, played the first one quite a bit, never finished though.. they're decent but they also don't really have any of the sim qualities that i enjoy in RPG's. They feel really static.
